PEACE OF MIND
What is peace of mind? Is it possible to attain peace of mind? These questions often baffle many people, who have no clear conception of peace of mind. Peace of mind does not mean soothing the mind. It does not mean escape into a dream world. It means more effective participation in a real world. It does not mean innocuous lulling but dynamic stimulation of creative activity. Peace of mind greatly increases our intellectual power. It enables us to think rationally and in a better way. An excited mind can not produce rational concept or orderly thoughts. The mind is efficient only when it is cool and not hot. When our mind is heated, emotions control our judgement which proves costly in the long run. Power of the mind comes from the quietness. Nothing is as precious as peace of mind. Peace of mind is the peaceful base upon which we erect a good deal of life dynamic. Money can buy many things but not peace of mind. Nothing can bring you peace but yourself. To have peace of mind one has to discipline oneself never to get mad or resentful. It is very important to learn emotional management.
Most of the religious books emphasize to keep under control vices like lust, anger, greed, hatred, envy, jealousy and ill will etc., which are the main enemies of peace of mind. In the Gita Lord Krishna says—
Lust, anger and greed are the triple gates of the hell,
These take the person towards the hell.
Hurry, worry, stress and strain are the modern enemies. These enemies destroy peace of mind and produce diseases in the body. Heart troubles, ulcer, nervous breakdown like maladies are caused by these enemies of peace.
Many psychosomatic diseases like insomnia, constant fatigue, impotency, headache, indigestion etc., are caused due to unpeace of mind.
There is a right and a wrong way to do everything. There is also a right and a wrong way to live life. Living is also a science based on definite laws of nature. Those who do not cooperate with laws of nature, life goes badly. When you learn those laws and live within them, your life will be wonderful.
A person who has self control, has strength to see situations clearly. Judge them for what they are. It depends upon the attitude of your mind. Negative attitude disturbs and positive attitude provides peace to the
