INTRODUCTION
Single parents are not often considered good parents.
I realized this when my kids were a little younger and had to face the challenges of being a single mother. An expert told me that the increase in the number of dysfunctional families is directly linked to the increase in the number of single parents. Statistics have proven it.
I was shocked. I had never associated dysfunction with the number of adults in a family. As a matter of fact, I knew many families who worked better when one of the parents was no longer there.
But his comment made me think. Have single parents really been the cause of many problems in society? Or was it a misunderstanding or misconception? I felt I had to answer this question - not for society as a whole, but specifically for my family.
First of all, I looked at myself carefully. Was I still a good parent? Did we work in a healthy and balanced way? Or was my kids having issues with the unnatural situation of living with one parent?
When I tried to see everything objectively, a number of things became clear to me.
At first, I realized that I wasn't perfect. It was vital for me to be able to recognize that because there was a time when I couldn't hold back on what I was
