He will do everything in his power to fend off the separation, such as throwing tantrums, crying and kicking, wailing and so on, even as the mother tries to wean him away gradually, from her apron strings. This process of separation causes anxiety in the toddler, thus giving birth to the term, ‘separation anxiety’. Worried mothers, fear not!
