    Life as a single father isn’t easy. In fact, over an eleven year period, I have been the sole provider for my fourteen year old son. Over those years, I have gained the upmost respect for all the single mothers that have raised their young ones on their own. I stress single mothers, because over the years it has been the father that has been the one who has left their families high and dry. But, times have changed and lately more and more men have stepped up to the plate to take care of their priorities. It’s positive that men are more involved, but that makes a person wonder where the mother’s responsibilities lie. Drugs and infidelity are widespread and are some of the reasons mothers end up leaving their families. This isn’t a wise crack towards women just a better understanding that even the noblest people have their breaking points.

    In my situation, it was both drugs and infidelity, these led to a gruesome divorce and a long drawn out custody battle. Eventually, my ex-wife signed custody papers giving me full custody of my son and ending the seemingly never ending rough and rugged road. The travels have been tough, but
