    En Passant - Ashraf Shaikh

    Mineral Water

The darkroom, and in that drab room where you killed a guy who is the biggest in the underworld's whole, it is the same room where you are sitting with your brother. You have rope wrapped and tied tightly on your hand and your brother’s and your waist is legs are tied with another rope on the pillar behind you. The room stinks of blood and the dead body, remember we just killed the biggest guys of the underworld, yeah, those dead bodies. Here we both stand, with our hands and legs wrapped, to the pillar, and bodies unmovable, we don’t know what we are doing here to get out and I never expected this could ever be happening.

Enough of all the philosophical mumbo jumbo, I talked about while holding the gun; I agree men become a god when they hold the gun, and when you flip the script, the character roles, the things is, the story is different; the plot turns out to be different. Now they are holding their guns and I was here standing in front of the barrel like my life depends on it. I must always stay calm and collected and aware that I can get fucked anytime, any fucking time, I can get caught, and hostage by guys likes this. My weakness is relying too much on people. And when your weakness plays out in a criminal world where people have no morals, you’re doomed to failure. Hey, can you get me some water it was the fifth time I said that, or more so, my counting skills are failing as my thirst is increasing.

Wait, he is bringing you the guy, with whom I planned the plan of looting the dock, said.

What is it all about, money? I promise you the money you want, have to let us go I said.

It is about the millions on your head, he said.

Men please don’t take it in the wrong way. But deliriously greedy assholes like you don’t succeed in life, play smart. One time you lick the ass of leader and other time your boss, you dogs aren’t loyal I said.

Thanks for the feedback, we’ll try to be good next time we have a guy who is most wanted, he said.

Man the way I killed Boss, I can do it right away, I said.

Your bluffing skills need some kind of wrap up, you aren’t good, he said.

Well, I am good at something in this criminal world isn’t it, I asked as I leaned over to Ibad to get his answer. I pissed him off, and he didn’t want to talk, and I can surely say he was planning to do something strange, something that can make them snap and give up. But I was against it, I didn’t want it. Things might not work.

Your water the boy brought the water, and kept in front of my mouth, but I refused to drink it.

I want only mineral water, I said.

"You can’t have the best in life
