About this ebook

It’s an all-out final battle on memory lane, as Clue Queen pursues the clever serial killer: Karma. With his extra collection of Karma-style pranks, and courtroom twisters, this ‘righteous psychopath’ has criminals escaping to jail by choice!

7 years since her last detective case, with a sidekick of doubt, can Dedra outsmart the pattern of what-goes-around and come-around to her own separate path of redemption? A new marriage, a new divorce, and a present scandal heightens the already high whodunit range: Smart Alec, The Shenanigans, Judge Mintall, Wendal, and even the Clue Queen herself!

Will Dedra still ‘remember to forget?’ And will Karma’s prank victims like Tom Peepin and the evasive John Doe receive justice? And should they? Karma’s Collection is a cozy boomerang adventure of mystery, ethics, betrayal, redemption, and psychology were ‘awareness has to win.’

*This eBook functions both as a stand-alone mystery and Book 5 in the Karma’s Revenge series.

Years ago, author and award-winning poet Jwyan C. Johnson wrote the script to a cartoon. The story starts off with a police chase to a giant dictionary: the home of our vocabulary words. Cops break down the cover, and they all rush in with their weapons drawn. And as they move around inside this book, we learn that they’re looking for one specific word: a simple 9-lettered noun. It has been bragging about its countless offenses committed against our society, against mankind. Surprising unarmed, and not dangerous, this specific word simply turns us against each other.Detectives follow the "alphabetical” directions to the right page, the right column and the right row, only to discover that this word has disappeared! Nowadays this divisive word lives inside our minds if we let it! The accomplished mystery writer reveals that "ignorance” was the word the police were after. The creative writings of Jwyan C. Johnson aim to biblically "protect and serve” the mind state because "ignorance is still at large in our society!” And with his latest kingdom-seeking contribution, Christian Parables, there are some places where ignorance no longer resides so we can win back each other.

    Chapter 1

    Class Dismissed

Class, Janine presents. "Image an architect designing a house… with a blindfold on. Picture him guessing on a blueprint with no professional guidance, no traditional rulers, and no normal boundaries. Construction workers bring this design to life. And it is not a pretty picture. It’s an unstable foundation that leans to the left, with a roof that can cave at any moment! But the scariest sight is watching this same blind architect walk his child inside and say welcome home.

Professor Wright leans in as Janine continues.

If you’re finding this hard to envision, imagine the name of this unstructured project: Child Development.

    The classroom leans forward.

With hallways too narrow to walk through, and a foundation so sensitive to the slightest shake, it is no wonder why these children won’t ‘open up’ and ‘let us in!’ It’s because of this unstable structure they are forced to call home: a living room that has nothing to do with living, no ‘love’ seat, no ‘power’ switch, no window of opportunity! I don’t know about you but I think it’s time… to rebuild.

Doctor Johnson nods next to the Professor Wright as Janine continues presenting her own psychological theory.

    (7 Minutes Later)

The class applauds. Some stand as one classmate approaches Janine to whisper something in her ear. Some students continue lightly applauding.

Janine, Doctor Johnson says, is there any message you need me to send? Can I say anything to Dedra for you?

No, Janine assures. There’s nothing left to say.

I promise I understand, Doctor Johnson replies. Just know that if you ever change your mind...

Janine, Professor Wright hurries with papers, this completes your course with a Grade Point Average of 3.86. You officially have the highest academic score in my class.

Thanks for doing this professor, Janine replies. I realize I’m no longer…

Listen to me, the professor interrupts. "I don’t care what any college says. You are still my student. You’ll always be! And I will visit you next week okay? I might even bring homework."

Janine smiles and head nods in tears. She then head nods to the police who return the handcuffs to her wrists.

I’m going with you, Doctor Johnson says to Janine.

Professor Curtis Wright faces his blurry sight of Janine walking away with the officers. Some classmates cry as well.

    Well, Professor Wright struggles. Uhm…

As the classroom observes its professor failing his own presentation to comfort them, he negotiates with his usual but now double-jointed phrase:

    Class dismissed.

    Chapter 2

    Hollywood Signs?

    (7 Years Later)

"Kaitlyn Porter with Channel 21 News. And we’re coming to you live awaiting Dedra Kare as she makes a complete U-turn from Hollywood… again! The new actress is rumored to be returning as lead detective to catch serial killer Karma. But the mystery around Dedra herself has some fans wondering if crime is the real reason she’s back! Dedra’s reality TV show was just canceled and her divorce is finalized. Obviously both stemming from her revenge tactic against her cheating husband. So the question is fair! Why is our Clue Queen really back? I see a limousine approaching. We’ll be standing by."

Roll down your window, the Paparazzi taunts the limo. Smile for the camera… Captain.

Captain? Dedra’s agent asks her from inside. Dedra why would the title ‘Captain’ provoke you? I thought you were a detective.

I was both, Dedra answers. I was promoted to Captain. But I quit soon after my first decision as the new leader.

Wow. That must have been some big decision.

Yeah, Dedra says with regret. In this male-dominated arena, I wanted to show strength. But one particular suspect truly deserved the chance I had to empathize with her more than anyone could ever know! Instead I blamed her for the whole predicament, abandoning her when she needed me the most. And I just ran to the state of denial. But it wasn’t far enough. So I moved to Hollywood even before her trial. I still don’t understand why or how I was so angry at Janine.

    Janine was the suspect?

She’s my… well yeah. Janine was the suspect.

Wow, the agent marvels. You really take your job seriously.

Dedra looks outside the window at her hometown as he continues.

So you chose Hollywood and met with me and my promise to make you a star. My people are still working with Jasmine Gem’s people for this movie deal. With the both of you as co-stars, and the publicity from your last detective case, this is a guaranteed blockbuster! The earlier the better. But right now this is the only way Deej. You have to hold a press conference and apologize for this latest scandal. Hollywood will eventually forgive you so long as you at least appear sorry.

Starring out her window at Janine’s junior high school, Dedra begins to cry.

That’s perfect, the agent observes. But save it until we get to the reporters.

Trust me. I have plenty tears.

And they almost look sincere and contagious. I don’t know why we started in Reality TV.

    Dedra pulls out her yearbook.

And Dedra try to steer your answers toward an audition of my spinoff ideas.

    Oh not this again.

"With the right comment, we can arrange a scripted Twitter feud with the
