Jwyan C. Johnson

Years ago, author and award-winning poet Jwyan C. Johnson wrote the script to a cartoon. The story starts off with a police chase to a giant dictionary: the home of our vocabulary words. Cops break down the cover, and they all rush in with their weapons drawn. And as they move around inside this book, we learn that they’re looking for one specific word: a simple 9-lettered noun. It has been bragging about its countless offenses committed against our society, against mankind. Surprising unarmed, and not dangerous, this specific word simply turns us against each other.Detectives follow the "alphabetical” directions to the right page, the right column and the right row, only to discover that this word has disappeared! Nowadays this divisive word lives inside our minds if we let it! The accomplished mystery writer reveals that "ignorance” was the word the police were after. The creative writings of Jwyan C. Johnson aim to biblically "protect and serve” the mind state because "ignorance is still at large in our society!” And with his latest kingdom-seeking contribution, Christian Parables, there are some places where ignorance no longer resides so we can win back each other.

    The Window’s Puzzle - Jwyan C. Johnson

    Chapter 1

    Window of Opportunity

    [Knock] [Knock]

Judge Farah, a bailiff peeks inside her chambers, he’s here.

The judge head nods and invites.

I got your message, Miles Turner enters. You wanted to see me?

Yes, Judge Farah replies. There’s a trial expected for next week. And the extra publicity around it will throw a tantrum if we assign a public defender. You’re a premium defense attorney who’s also beaten Erin Powers before. So I’m assigning you to represent Robin Moore.

    What’s the case?

"It’s a crime combo: Burglary, Kidnapping, and Murder. News reporters are calling it The Window’s Puzzle."

Isn’t that about the missing girl?

Yes. The defendant is her father.

The judge hands Miles the case file and continues.

Meet with your new client. Robin Moore is accused of burglary through a window to steal child custody. While the daughter is still missing, the stepdad is…gone.

    Chapter 2

    Puzzle Pieces

"Kaitlyn with Channel 21 News. And we’re live at the courthouse for the first piece of The Window’s Puzzle. Only that bedroom window knows what really happened that night between Robin Moore and Will Tango. And only that window knows why Cherish Moore, or Cherry, is still missing! I’m joined by top prosecutor Erin Powers. And I guess my first question is… why so fast?"

We’re moving quickly for the missing girl, Erin replies. Just like the picket sign reads, we’re ‘putting our Cherry on top.’ Robin Moore is hiding his daughter. And Robin Moore murdered the stepdad, Will Tango. After trying every legal tactic to return Cherish to her mother, we’re calling his bluff with this speedy trial. Two birds, one stone.

My sources say you knew Will Tango. I’m sorry for your loss.

    Thank you.

    How did you know him?

I have to go, Erin says and leaves.

    O…kay? Thank you Miss Powers.

The camera synchronize as widowed Karen Tango arrives and embraces the news reporter.

I miss you, Kaitlyn says. The whole newsroom misses you Karen! How about an exclusive interview after this quick arraignment?

You got it, Karen says. And thanks for that… small favor.

Sure. We won’t report that detail. But please be careful.

    Why?

Robin Moore’s new lawyers have a style many call ‘a street fight on a chessboard!’ And the police chief mysteriously stayed silent about it in their press conference. I think these lawyers are faking unawareness to ambush you when you take the stand. Why not just volunteer that small detail to avoid a trap?

"I can’t afford to take that chance. I’m protecting Will Tango’s legacy so please keep that detail off Channel 21 News. And keep your cameraman close. I’ll be out for our exclusive interview soon. And I’ll raise our ratings closer to The Joneses on that Richer & Richer network. Stay close."
