hatever we do or whoever we are, there is one thing that remains true; what we put in our gut is so powerful that it does not only alter our body but also affects our state of mind.

And for thousands of years, our guts have been doing just fine. The stomach and the entire digestive system work in harmony with other organs and systems – and surprisingly, other microorganisms.

It can be gross to think about it, but it’s something we need to talk about if we want to maintain health and balance—there is a massive colony of microbes in our digestive system, and they help keep us healthy.

However, through the years, so many things changed, and one of them had disastrous effect on the gut.

We started taking too many antibiotics. At first, it seemed like a blessing – and in fact, it is, to an extent. Very often, antibiotics save our lives when we suffer from deadly infections. In the past, many people had to die as the result of infection, as there were no antibiotics to help them. However, antibiotics kill all of the microorganisms in our body indiscriminately, both good and bad. They wreak havoc on our digestive system and create imbalance, affecting our health us a whole.

This book has one purpose; to help you restore lost balance between the living microorganisms in your body (aka microbiota) and boost digestive health by means of a simple and effective gut-healing diet. The diet that has been developed by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride and outlined in her book on Gut and Psychology syndrome (GAPS) is called the GAPS Diet and was developed to prevent and treat autoimmune diseases resulting from the imbalances in the gut flora and affecting both digestive and mental health.

If you suffer from allergies, food intolerances, bloating, brain fog, joint pain, anxiety, depression and inability to lose weight, your gut health is most likely responsible for your state. In fact, it is your diet that can be the hidden culprit.

Sugar, processed carbohydrates, hydrogenated fats, toxic and full of antibiotics and hormones meat, overconsumption of alcohol and energy drinks, artificial sweeteners, eating in stress and eating in a hurry, eating when you’re not hungry and eating to change emotional state. These are the factors contributing to inflammation in your gut and whole body, causing hormonal imbalances and raising blood sugar levels, feeding Candida Albicans and making it to overgrowth, slowing down your metabolic rate and causing you to look and feel unhealthy.

Very often we eat what we eat as we don’t know any alternatives and when we try to find some alternatives, we end up feeling overwhelmed by the amount of contradictory information on dieting and what is and isn’t healthy.

Fortunately, thanks to Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride and the GAPS Diet, your health does not have to be compromised any more.

The GAPS Diet is one of the most effective protocols to help you treat chronic inflammation which lies behind all of the digestive tract issues, and mental health problems. The rules are simple. The food is easy to prepare when following the guidelines in this book. The health benefits are definitely worth it. All you have to do is to learn what to eat, how to eat and apply it all in your life.

The GAPS diet is not another miraculous solution that promises solving all your health and weight problems in 30 days and then you can go back to your past diet and unhealthy habits. Permanent improvement of your health, resulting from following the Gaps Diet protocol will only happen if you treat is as a lifestyle change. I want to prompt you to change the way you eat in a gradual manner – giving up sugars and starches and introducing healthier and more nutritious foods, combined with other lifestyle changes that will be revealed in this book.
