PRAYER FOR MY SON - Stella George

About this book
In May 2018, I woke up with a strong impression from the holy spirit to write a focused prayer book for black boys. It is a book for whoever feels a sense of spiritual responsibility for a black boy that needs some guidance. Just like Moses, I felt totally helpless and very unqualified. I am the mother of black sons and know the challenges and difficulties that I have faced and the ones I am still working on. I was good at fasting and prayer and belonged to a church community, but I thought only men and women of God like pastors wrote prayer books. Nevertheless, the impression was so strong and specific that I decided to obey.
The Lord also instructed me to fast and pray for about 30 days for Him to provide me with some topics for the prayer. I did not want to doubt Him, so I accepted that I would do this and started a fasting and prayer the next day. I began to journal and asked for the Holy Spirit to be my guiding light as I took on the task. I asked that He provide me with the strength and knowledge to get the book in the hands of those that needed it. Not everyone feels that they are capable of reaching God on their own. I was in those shoes. I felt that someone special had to pray for me before it could reach God. A lot of people still believe this. It is good to be covered by wise people of God as they might decipher things quicker for you, but you are the only one that can understand your pain and know which area in your life requires prayer. This is not an attempt to tone down the importance of fellowship in the church. Fellowship in the church is critical, and I value it a great deal.
This book is for mothers, fathers, carers, sisters, brothers, grandmothers, grandfathers, aunties, nieces, uncles and so on. It is for anyone concerned enough to desire to pray and who might be able to find a topic here for their specific problem. You might even be a neighbour who is worried about a neighbour’s son(s). This is your chance to begin to pray for them. Alongside those of my children, I have a secret list of names that I pray for daily. You can read it in any way you want. I would suggest you read through it and then pick out prayers or scriptures that are relevant to your situation. You could use this prayer book as a guide to topics that you want to put before God. You also have scriptures as a guide to specific issues. You could start in different ways – by yourself, an agreement with a friend, a regular online meeting, on the phone, or physically. We hope to start a movement in which we can share prayers and experiences. We will start a spiritual revival that will change the lives of our children.
As I publish this book the world is being gripped by a pandemic, Coronavirus. All attention is focused on this disease as it has spread through the world like wildfire and has taken many lives around the world. Our focus as children of God is to remember Psalm 91 which at the end o
We pray for the aid of angelic hosts and the Holy Spirit to stop the bloodshed on our streets.
May the Lord Jesus be our guiding light in this journey.

About Me
Iwas not strictly brought up in the church. My grandmother, whom I lived with in Nigeria until I was about 10, went to what is known as a white garment church (Cherubim and Seraphim), and I attended it with her. After this age, I went to live with my parents, who did not participate in church. I did not start attending church till my mid-20s, and even then, it was for about a couple of years, and then I stopped.
In my twenties, even with an awareness of God, I was not a believer because my analytical, sceptical mind got in the way. I could not understand why we had to worship a being that we had never seen. I also thought that judging by the massive killings and wars in the Old Testament that this being was also vengeful. For why would He wipe millions of lives off the face of the earth when He was displeased that they did not obey Him!
I got annoyed that it was not enough to worship Him. He even sent His son Jesus to us on earth to die for us, and we also had to worship Him! I had so many questions and not a lot of satisfactory answers and thus I stopped going to church and declared there was no God.
In my mind, I had valid reasons for this. However, the most painful one came when my father fell seriously ill and I was helpless to do anything till he died four years later. It was four years of pain and torture, and
