INTRODUCTION

There is a purpose for everything. Indeed, everything in our world has a purpose.

People are well acquainted with the purpose of everything around them but when it comes to the purpose of life itself which is the most important, they are not sure. Some have adopted a view of life which they created for themselves and which allows them to live however they please. But to know the purpose of a thing, ask the creator or the one who made it because he/she will be in the best position to tell you the reason they made whatever it is they made.

Purpose precedes creation. Life was created with purpose in mind and when you understand the purpose of it, you also discover the beauty of it.

CHAPTER 1

UNDERSTANDING THE NATURE OF GOD

To know and understand the purpose of a thing, you have to meet the one who made it. This is why I am starting with God because He is the creator of life. He created the heaven and the earth and everything in it , including humans.

God is a being just like you and I. He has a nature and He wants us to know and understand this nature.

In the book of [Hosea 6:6] God said, … I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings. God really wants us to have an understanding of who is. We can really know and understand God, it is possible. He is not a mystery as many think. The only mystery about God is His origin, besides that, there is no other. His ways can be understood likewise his nature.

[Jer. 9:24] declares, But let him who glories glory in this: that he understands and knows Me (personally and practically, directly discerning and recognizing My character), that I am the Lord, who practices loving-kindness, judgement, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the Lord. [Amp].

If God was a mystery and if He doesn’t want to be known, He would not ask us to know Him.

Having the understanding of the nature of a thing and also a being is very important in other to relate with that thing or being in a harmonious and a benefiting way.

WHAT IS GOD’S NATURE?

God’s nature is love. The Bible says in [1st John 4:16] …God is love... Everything he is and does is because of his nature of love. God is good, kind, merciful and patient because He is love. Even when God seems too hard or wicked, it because of love. Every one of God’s actions and reactions can be traced to one word, LOVE.

God’s love nature is the reason He is one and yet more than one- a family.

"And God said let us…" [Gen. 1:26]. God referred to himself as us in this scripture because He is love and love is only possible with relationship. Love doesn’t live alone, it lives in relation to other love beings. Love needs a companion (a son) to love and also receive love from in return. This is why God is one and at the same time, more than one.
