LAYING THE FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS

Every good architect will agree to the fact that when it comes to building a house, the foundation is the most important factor. A poor or a bad foundation will inevitably result in a poor building. Likewise, in building a successful and a meaningful life, our foundation is paramount because it determines the quality of our lives.

Many people’s lives today are marked by chaos, frustration, mediocrity, dissatisfaction and regret because of a lack of an early and a proper foundation.

We live in a world controlled by time and there is time for everything. The Book of Life says, To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under the heaven [Ecc 3:1]. There is the time to lay a foundation, and a time to build on it.

You are at a very strategic position to lay that foundation of your life now that you are young and full of strength.

The Bible says, The glory of the youth is in their strength. The youthful season is a very sensitive period of our lives that determines what we become the rest of our days on earth. It is the time to lay the foundation for the future. If one misses out on this youthful period of laying the correct foundation, it will affect one’s life quality a great deal in the future.

There are some adults wishing they could wind back the hand of time because they spent their youthful season recklessly consequently, didn’t prepare for their future as they ought to.

While it is good to learn from your own experience, it is even better to learn from other people’s experiences because it will save your time, save you from unnecessary troubles, give you speed and keep you from making irreversible mistakes capable of sabotaging your future. If you don’t know history, you are bound to repeat it. You don’t always have to wait to experience before you learn, only a fool will do that.

A lot of people are making great efforts to become somebody in life but their efforts are producing little or no result, forcing them to settle for the average and the mediocre life. One reason for this is that they did not laid a solid foundation for themselves when they should.

Consciously or unconsciously, every day we live prepares us for next. In other words, my today determines my tomorrow. This may be a very simple statement but one that controls the circumstances of our lives. The more you fail to do what you’re are supposed to do now, the harder it becomes to do them later and this can lead to complications and frustration in life.

Life has been arranged in interconnected stages by God and every stage has a direct and a huge impact on the next.

You are either enjoying or suffering from what you did or fail to do at the previous stages of your life right now.

The importance of laying a solid foundation for one’s life in time cannot be over emphasized. The earlier you understand and do this, the better for you

CHAPTER 1

DECIDE AND BE DETERMINED

Nothing just happens in life. Even though everyone has this inherent desire for what is good but not everyone has made the conscious decision to have the good desires in their heart. Every great accomplishment begins with a decision followed by the determination to have it. Behind every admirable quality is a force and a drive.

The Bible says, Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled Math. 5:6. This scripture doesn’t just apply to righteousness only but also to other things like success. If you substitute righteousness for success in this scripture, it will sound this way, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after success they shall be filled" You have to show hunger to be filled that is the principle here.

Furthermore, decision and determination are like seeds. A tree or a plant doesn’t just grow, they begin from a seed. Without a seed, there can’t be a tree. By the same token, what you have not consciously decided to have and for which you have no will to possess, you’ll never possess. What you don’t desire, you don’t deserve.

Decision and determination are the two basic foundational principles behind success. When these two indispensable qualities are lacking in one’s life, the outcome is a life left to chance which will inevitably result in a mediocre and a poor life.

Success doesn’t happen by chance, there must be a conscious decision and the unquenchable determination to achieve.

Life is choices not chances. You have to be intentional about your life and destiny otherwise, life will automatically give you one. It is amazing how some people just float through life with no serious commitment to anything. A casual attitude towards life will cause you to become a casualty.

Therefore, decide and pursue doing something great, magnificent, inspiring, praiseworthy, superb, admirable and satisfactory with your life that it will be difficult for the world to forget your name. Develop a hatred for the average life which is the way a vast majority of people are living.
