Letter to Reader
Have you ever felt unable to make a decision or unable to figure out how to solve a problem? Have you ever wanted to accomplish so many things that you couldn’t decide what to do first? Have you ever been so afraid to take the wrong step that you couldn’t take any step at all? Have you recently felt overwhelmed, confused, or just stuck
?
The reality is that everyone goes through feeling overwhelmed or stuck
at some time or another. It’s not a matter of intelligence, education, or professional achievements - we all encounter obstacles that are difficult to overcome but whether you will overcome your obstacles successfully or stay in a stuck
place becomes your decision.
When you’re feeling stuck, the way out can be as simple as deciding what to do first and then doing just that - taking one step at a time. However, some people try to avoid facing obstacles by pretending they don’t exist or by blaming someone else. They bury their heads in the sand, hoping that they won’t have to face reality and take action to solve the problem. They decide to do nothing,
or at least that’s what they think they’re doing - they don’t realize that there is no such thing as doing nothing.
A decision to do nothing
is a decision itself - it’s deciding not to solve the problem and choosing the consequences of allowing the problem to remain unresolved and possibly get worse. It’s also choosing to allow the continuing negative impact of the problem on their family or other people in their life.
Many people choose the path of least resistance,
doing whatever requires the least amount of effort or work on their part. Unfortunately, this is not always the best choice. You see, life always has consequences, and you can’t avoid responsibility for solving a problem and its consequences simply by doing nothing.
Facing an obstacle and taking action to overcome it is always better than abdicating responsibility and then regretting it later.
Life is full of choices. We have to decide what options we will or won’t accept. God shows us that we not only have choices, but that he loves us so much that he gives us the best option - he tells us to choose life.
When you choose life, you are choosing to receive the very best life God has to offer you physically, mentally, financially, and spiritually. You’re making a decision to use the abilities that God gave you so that you can overcome adversity and embrace the future enthusiastically, knowing that you will accomplish your goals.
Your life is not determined by fate. There was a plan for your life that existed long before your parents were even born. You were given the talents and opportunities to carry out that plan, regardless of who your parents are or the environment in which you grew up.
Everyone is on earth for a purpose. Your purpose may be the solution to a significant problem, the answer to someone’s prayers, or fulfillment of the needs of people who are depending on you to do what God intends you to do in their lives. God orders the steps that you take toward fulfilling your purpose in life, and you play a critical, active role in following those steps and ensuring that your destiny is fulfilled.
Throughout my life, I have learned through the experiences of others. From a young age, I realized that if I saw someone else get burned when they touched something, I didn’t need to touch it myself to confirm that it was hot. Of course, I’ve also had to learn some things through my own experience, the hard way,
and I’ve made some mistakes that have caused me pain and heartache along the way. However, one of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to make the most of every opportunity and to learn as much as I can from others’ mistakes and successes as well as my own experiences. Whether an experience is good or bad, there is always a lesson to be learned from it.
As you read this book, I hope that you will grow and learn from my experiences as well as from the people whose testimonies I will share with you. These experiences will also encourage you to pursue your dreams without fear
