    Introducing Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat

Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking by Samin Nosrat is an illustrated cookbook. Through the book, Nosrat was able to teach readers her revolutionary yet simple way of cooking. The text is full of charming narratives, cooking illustrations, and an enjoyable kitchen approach. Nosrat shares the four elements for everyone to use in good cooking. She explains how salt, even those that looked like crystals, can affect a dish's flavor and the proteins included in the cooked food. She describes how fat can result in the crispiness of the food. Nosrat also analyzes how heat influences flavor through caramelization. She demonstrates how to balance all of these elements when making a meal.

The book has 462 pages and covers a lot of basics. Nosrat wrote engagingly and tried to make the book seem like she's talking to the readers personally. When she talks about how important fat is, she would tell readers to try to imagine cooking without using fats. She would also suggest trying to imagine croissants without butter before commenting that it's a pointless case. Nosrat would then cleverly blends in anecdotes from her life experiences when she used to be an aspiring cook to help her readers understand. She would also define her occurrences as the daughter of an Iranian immigrant to help deliver her points
