About this ebook

It's been four years since I chased those mysterious lights into the forest, lights that turned out to be Fairies. A wish was made. Johnny and I have only just begun to grasp our new reality of my impending changes. I realize now once the connection was made between the Fae and myself, there was nothing I could have done. Alongside the possible danger of my transformation looming over us, a new risk poses a threat to us.

What could my nightmares of a great fairy war mean? Because of my actions we could all be doomed. Something, someone, must save us all. This can't just end this way. There must be more. My name is CT. I am becoming Fae.

    For Mom

    Dora Eileen Casey Stringer

Mom, your wisdom, and faith in me stayed strong, long before I learned to have faith in myself.

    Love and miss you.

    Character Bios

    CT (Chelsea Thomas)

It’s all about CT and her beautiful red hair! She’s always had a bit of an attitude but stayed ahead of the trouble. However, now that she’s thirteen years old everything in her life as she knew it has slowly changed. CT is evolving, and soon it will be impossible for her to hide these changes from her mother. What will she do?

    Grasshopper (Johnny Granger)

Johnny AKA Grasshopper. He’s fourteen years old soon to be fifteen. He’s the long-legged boy next door. He’d rather run than walk, anywhere. He’d rather dive through open windows instead of walking through the door. He’s CT’s cohort in crime, her best friend. They share several secrets. An Angel literally touched Grasshopper last year, and he’ll never be the same.

Lil John (John Wickens) – Special Friend

John was placed in a time out and lost his wings for a while, so he’s hanging out in the portal world with Fia, Liam and the other fairies.

    Charles Thomas (Nickname Tommy)

CHARLES IS CT’S DAD. CT always knew there was more to the story of why he suddenly left her and her mom a few years back. Last summer she found out why.

GT (Gertie Thomas) and Linda Granger

CT and Grasshopper’s mothers and they’ve also become best friends. They’re so glad that their children have become best friends. If they only knew what these two had been up to over the past few summers, they’d separate them for life.

Fia and Liam (Queen and Commander of The Fairies)

To know them, to have seen them, and be allowed the memory of them is a gift onto itself. They are such beautiful, colorful, little people that fly with wings. Yet, they must stay hidden from the human world.

    The Light Fae Fairies

They number in the thousands and live under Queen Fia’s rule, deep within the forest. They remain invisible to the humans until they get careless and drop their protective shield.

    Tray

Tray is small and slight for his age. He used to look pale and sort of sickly. He has short curly blond hair and was always skittish and jumpy, but Tray is a different boy now that his dad quit drinking and started going to church, with the help of a few hundred fairies. What exactly did they do to him?

    Scott

Scott and Johnny (Grasshopper) have been friends from day one. Scott is a huge boy for a fourteen-year-old. He’s determined to join the military when he finishes school.

    Zolar

Assassin, Trusted Scout to Nialinda, Queen of the Dark Fae Fairies.

    Conclusion

I FROWNED AS I STARED intently out the kitchen window at the strange fairy hiding up in the tree behind my house. I willed my mind to reach out to Grasshopper who was next door. Mind talking was just one of the many new talents we’d gained since hanging out with Fia and her fairy clan.

Grasshopper, are you there? That strange fairy, he’s out there again in the trees. I can see him now. It’s the third time he’s been out there.

I’m here, Grasshopper answered, Which tree is he in?

I could see that Grasshopper had stepped outside into the yard and was examining each tree, looking for the one housing the Fairy. Grasshopper didn’t have the specially enhanced vision I had. I could see a bird in the treetop in the forest from inside my bedroom window. This had just happened over the past few weeks. I added it to my many talents I now have. It hadn’t surprised or scared me, especially since Fia, Queen of the Fae Fairies, had explained to me what to expect. Well, most of it, anyway. There were things Fia hadn’t figured out how to explain to me yet. She doesn’t realize I’m sort of figuring it out for myself. I mean you’d have to be dumb and blind not to know something unique and profound was going on inside your own body. And I don’t mean just the normal growth surges a thirteen-year-old goes through. The things happening to me are way far over the edge of the norm. However, I know Fia’s going to have that talk with me before too long. My strength and powers are growing too strong too fast.

So far, I’ve been able to hide everything from mom, but I forget sometimes when I am at the moment. It all comes so naturally to me. The urge to levitate and float or glide across the backyard is like sweet candy. I do it because I can. But as a human, I’m not supposed to be able to do all the things I’ve started doing since last year. I think Fia’s afraid to tell me the truth about how and why I’m able to do the things I do. Between a strong feeling I have and the fact that she seems to be avoiding me lately.

I reached out with my mind. Who are you and what do you want? I knew that Grasshopper was listening.

Zolar didn’t respond, not yet. He knew better than to do anything without his Queens orders. He vanished just as quickly as he’d arrived. He’d return and report what he’d witnessed back to his Queen.

I GLANCED AROUND TO make sure mom was nowhere around. I jerked my head to the right and within a blink of the eyes; I was standing beside Grasshopper outside. I have to admit; I love the look of shock on his face when I do this. So funny.

Grasshopper jerked around at the sudden swirl of air as I appeared beside him out of nowhere. Man CT, he growled. You’ve got to quit doing that. If your mom or someone sees you we’re both toast. I gave him one of my looks. Yea, I know I should be used to that by now, he grinned. He motioned up toward the tree where our visitor had perched. What does he look like? I wish I could see him like you can.

I glanced around before answering Grasshoppers question, I know I shouldn’t, but it’s dark out and I made sure mom was in her room.

Looking up in the trees again, I answer Grasshoppers question. He’s gone now, but he looked purple with silver tips on his wings. He looked mad like he didn’t like me. I couldn’t really see his face. He had some hood up over his head. I’ve got to reach Fia and ask her about him. He’s trouble I can tell that much. I can feel the hate emanating from him.

I switched back to the present problem, I don’t know why mom’s making me go with her downtown to the meeting tonight. She never makes me go but tonight it seems to mean something to her, I grumbled as I shook my head.

Getting sidetracked, I grin impishly, "Admit it, Grasshopper, you’re jealous that you can’t, well I don’t even know what it’s called, but I can. I glanced around again to make sure mom hadn’t come looking for me yet.

Yes, I’m jealous, Grasshopper replied smiling. I think it’s so cool. Let’s call it warp-jumping. Does it give you a headache or anything when you do it? Oh, and your vision is like superman, that’s so unreal, I envy you.

No, I replied. It happened by accident, which is kind of scary, but I’ve adjusted. I mean the mind-talking just seemed natural, you know?

Yea, he whispered probably because it involved Fia with us when it happened. The same as you levitating and floating with Lil John for the first time a few months back. But between the amazing vision and warp jumping, just wow, CT. Girl, what else can you do?

Oh, don’t forget the power of persuasion, I shot back. Except it’s not working with mom tonight. I just feel like she really wants me to go with her.

An idea popped up, Hey, run in and see if your mom plans on you going so we can hang out together.

Man, CT, there’s a game starting in 30 minutes, he said glancing at his watch. You know I like my games.

Boring, I responded as I turned to go. I ‘felt’ mom before she appeared at the back door. I’ve got to go, Mom’s ready.

Just then, mom stuck her head out the back door. Come on CT we’ve got to get a move on.

Catch you later. I waved as I ran inside to join mom. I had to mess with Grasshopper just a little, so I reached out with my mind. Traitor, choosing a game over me.

Grasshopper replied quickly. Man CT, it’s a football game. But seriously, we need to contact Fia and tell her about this strange fairy. He’s not one of hers, is he?

No, he’s not, and he’s trouble I can tell. I just had to tease Grasshopper a little. Hey, I’m having a premonition. It’s your team. They’re going to lose tonight. Yea man it’s going to be bad.

Man CT, Grasshopper mumbled. That’s not even funny, you’re going to jinx them for real. I’m out of here. Just like that he vanished.

It was actually very strange to get used to. We could turn a conversation on and off within our minds. It was cool but also weird. I knew we shouldn’t be able to do this but then I shouldn’t be able to do a lot of things I did since finding Fia and the Fairy Portal World. Or rather they had found me and took me to their Portal World.

I thought hard for a moment. It seemed so natural to me now that my life was evolving into this secret metric world. I mean I should crash under the pressure being only thirteen years old. But I’m getting stronger and stronger every day. I’m embracing all the changes. It carried me closer to my father and Fia and all the other fairies. I’ve refused to think on what all this "evolving’ meant to my mom and what part she would play in my future.

THE NEXT TWO HOURS were pretty mundane and boring for me, but I endured for Mom’s sake. That is until after the meeting down at the local Courthouse. Just when I thought it was about over, I began squirming, ready to get up and head for the door. Mom held me back by putting her hand on my shoulder. Hold up, young lady. What are you in such a hurry for? It’s not like you have to study or get up for school tomorrow. I was irritated now but tried my best to hide it.

It was summer, but I just wasn’t interested in too many normal human things any more. I had evolved far beyond that months ago. In fact, if I were having a conversation with you about my life, which I would not because neither I nor Grasshopper would ever speak of our fairy friends Fia and her family.

However, if I was talking about my feelings, I would have to admit that I had changed from the first moment the Fairies had found me and claimed me as their missing princess.

I’m now thirteen and Grasshopper is fourteen. Our lives had become complex and confusing, but we would not wish to give up one memory that they had allowed us to keep since meeting Queen Fia and her mate Liam. Our lives now revolve around keeping our secret forever.

What had started out as a journey into the forest one night to chase some lights ended up changing my entire world forever? I’m still confused how all this involved my father. He had left my mom about four years ago suddenly.
