Children of Ethereal Lights, Protecting The Lights: Chasing The Lights Series, #7
()
About this ebook
Johnny and I had no idea when we rescued two human babies from the clutches of a witch and a dark fae, these babies would morph into full-fledged adult fairies within months. History not only repeat itself but escalated far surpassing all we had experienced thus far. Our lives were about to be changed even more so than we could have anticipated. The wish I made that was granted years ago had affected not only our lives but the lives of all we loved.
We retracted our wings as we left the lavender cobbled path, stepping through the protective portal shield into Eadrom Castle where we would welcome our newest proteges Celinda and Zephyr to their new home. A war was upon us; they were the chosen ones to lead.
Enter Fairies, Trolls, Ghosts, Witches & Demons, Angels, and now powerful Nephilim's. Mix in a little maturity with age & lots of fairy dust and you have my story of an amazing adventure. This is where Johnny and CT's story end's, and Celinda & Zephyr begins.
Now comes the grand conclusion to the epic Coming of Age Fantasy Series starring beloved Chelsea Thomas AKA CT and Johnny Granger AKA Grasshopper. First came Chasing the Lights, books one-four, Omnibus of books one-four, Embracing the Lights Saga, books one & two, and now Protecting the Lights.

Prologue
It was another beautiful day on Nenagh Realm high above Ireland. Johnny and I hovered for hours cloaked in invisibility, silently observing, some would say spying if you would, on Celinda and Jon-Jon, our two proteges, or rather Johnny’s proteges. I was their appointed Fairy God Mother by rite of succession to the throne one day when I replaced Queen Fia. We had many reasons to be concerned for our newest members. They would be the last human babies to be taken or rescued, depending on how you looked at things, from their human mothers. Their mothers used to be Johnny and mine’s human mothers years ago. Some call this reincarnation. I tired of repeating this tale by now that I’d told so many times now to the young Fae who never tire of hearing fantastical stories.
Johnny constantly reminded me; we had no choice. We had to take them once the Dark Fae found out what we or rather what Fia, had done. They would never be safe on earth. Their mothers had to be protected as well.
My Fairy God Mother Fia started this phenomenon many years ago by placing me into a human woman’s belly for protection after falling in love with a male human. It was unheard of years ago for fairies to mix with humans. Humans could not cross over into the realm to another world. This was why many faes survived on earth to remain near their human lovers. My birth father sacrificed his life for my existence. I was half human before I started morphing to fae at age eleven. My bonded mate, Johnny was human. Once Queen Fia found me, I refused to leave my Johnny behind. Our transformations were unique and extremely dangerous. Johnny had to actually die as a human before beginning the transformation; there were no guarantees he would live at the time.
I realized I’d been lost in my thoughts again as I was known to do.
Johnny, have we come full circle? What have we done? Look at them both. They are perfect in every way.
We glanced down at Celinda and Jon-Jon. Their growth from birth to young adult happened within weeks instead of years.
It’s been merely a few years following our battle against the Dark Fae for Nenagh Realm. They not only developed from infant to young adults, but they also have superhuman strength and abilities. Most of our young fae are a bit leery of them, complaining they play as if they are fighting. Celinda told me this herself only the other day. Both she and Jon-Jon also feel the difference. They say the other fae their ages seem very childish and boring. They’ve both not only morphed from human babies to fully developed fae with wings and all; their intellect and knowledge of ancient fae history is off the charts. How can this be, Johnny?
Celinda and Jon-Jon frolicked at the water’s edge teasing each other in the early morning light unaware they were being watched. They were sixteen years in human years, almost a hundred years in fae. They would go under the Tree of Life in a few weeks and become a bonded fae couple although they acted as if this sacred ritual meant little to them although they would have to abide by rules. Johnny broke into my thoughts.
My beautiful CT, you are seeing them as young children when in fact you must come to the realization, they are not like anyone here, they are unique, they are also very aware of this. They are more frightened than they let on.
We hovered in silence for a few moments before Johnny spoke again.
You’re worried about them both aren’t you? I’m sorry to say you have need to be. Celinda has always been headstrong even as a baby, her gifts, knowledge and fae abilities parallel to our Queen Fia and Queen Kayla. She already speaks as if she is ready to lead her own fae family. I’ve had to remind her on several occasions to respect your wishes. She’s very rebellious.
I do worry about them both Johnny, they are so young, they have no idea of what they could be up against, the dangers that lie ahead for them both. Jon-Jon will blindly follow where Celinda leads, which is apparent.
We both froze in midair as Celinda, sensing our presence, turned suddenly to face in our direction. Her once blue eyes turning silver, bore into my eyes, her silver hair glistening in the early morning light.
We both saw the change take place instantaneously as both Celinda and Jon-Jon faced us full force now.
CT, their eyes, their hair, look it’s turned completely silver. Has this happened before to any of the other young fae?
I have not seen another fae with silver wings or eyes except for the queens, kings, prince, and princesses of nobility. Queen Fia’s twins have silver and gold in their wings, yet their eyes and hair are not silver. I fear this will cause a big upset. Come, we must go speak to Queen Fia. I fear our trouble has only begun.
Johnny understood why I was so concerned. There would be jealousy between twin faes born to the Queen of Nenagh Realm and human babies brought into the fold as I had been, having more powers than the twins; you add in beautiful silver eyes and hair, this would not go over well.

Tree of Life
The sun was setting as everyone gathered under the tree of life for the monthly bonding ceremony. This had taken place every month as long as I had been with all the light fae. Johnny and I were the exceptions, actually now that I think of it, we did go through the ceremony, however, it was understood we were already bonded so who were we to question Celinda and Jon-Jon? They were very much like we were. Well, except for the fact Johnny and I were young adults, eighteen and twenty years old in human years, when we arrived, not mere babies as Celinda and Jon-Jon had been. Human babies who had mysteriously developed within a years’ time, into young adult fae’s with super human powers.
Anyway, the Tree of Life Ritual was always a beautiful ceremony. The tree stood over sixty feet high. Its branches spread out in a beautiful spiraling full circle. Young fae lite up the tree branches in the evening dusk making it appear as if little fireflies were everywhere. The singing always began softly as if on cue. The young faes voices singing the beautiful lilting notes would carry on throughout the night.
We’d only been here on Nenagh Realm for barely a years’ time. Johnny was still under transformation and could not go to earth with King Liam, the scouts and myself.
I know this sounds vicious and cruel, yet it was the only way to protect them and our earth mothers against the dark fae. It’s a long story for another time just suffice it to say my true mother is Fia, my Fairy God Mother while my earth mom was my biological mother. I didn’t know just how different I was until I was almost eleven years old. I started changing, eventually growing wings I had to retract and hide. It was very hard for a few years until we could leave earth and come here to Nenagh Realm to our new home. Johnny was my next-door neighbor and partner in crime as we grew. He sacrificed everything to be here with me. He was human, had a wonderful life and job career yet he gave it all up, willingly giving up his life, knowing he may not survive the transformation, to be with me. I love him so much I would die to protect him if need be. He's mine; no one will ever take him from me. Johnny gently nudged me bringing me out of my silent thoughts.
Hey pretty lady where’d you go? They’re about to start the ceremony. They’re going to have the name changing ceremony first.
We were interrupted by angry voices over to our right. I became angry when I saw it was the twins Chelsea and John and of course in the middle of it was Celinda and Jon-Jon.
You’re just jealous because we have silver eyes and wings when it’s not our fault. We have no control over how we developed. We didn’t ask to be brought here.
*****
Celinda was on the verge of losing her composure, which meant the whole night could be ruined if Johnny didn’t work his magic. He was able to calm all of them with his presence and a few words while I was more prone to want to start spouting rules and possible punishments based on my training as princess. I had a lot of responsibility fall on my shoulders in a short amount of time, so I could get tense very quickly. Johnny was great at grounding us all.
Why don’t all four of you come over here with me, let’s clear this up so we can all have an awesome party tonight. I know all the other faes are ready, there are many waiting to see if they get their bonded mates tonight. Jon-Jon are you ready to change your name? Have you both selected one Celinda? This is very important.
We have,
Celinda responded, that’s what this is about. Chelsea thinks it is disrespectful for Jon-Jon to change his name having been named after you Johnny. You know we mean no disrespect. We happen to agree with our Taneisha Queen Kayla who pointed out on her last visit, there are so many same named Johnny. My Jon-Jon deserves his separate identity, it’s very simple to understand. We have the twins here named Chelsea after you CT, and John named after you Johnny, then we have our Angel Little John who comes to visit us. Why do we need another Jon or Johnny or Jon-Jon that is all. I find it extremely annoying myself.
Jon-Jon was quiet as he always was. He tended to let Celinda do all the talking so they were all surprised when he spoke up.
"I agree with Celinda, I feel it best for all of us. I have chosen the name Zephyr which our Queen Fia has approved, as I hope you Princess CT and Prince John also approve. I also feel after all, both of you Chelsea, and John, are the reigning Queens children, therefore no
