About this ebook

I work hard, through Wednesday 12 February. By Wednesday afternoon, Joan and I are the only ones left in the office. Well there is also the Department Secretary, Patty.
I have just finished a major effort, well ahead of schedule, when everything just suddenly lined up. I do a bit of clean up on the work and off I go.
Thursday morning I arrive back at work, to find that Joan, me and the Department Secretary, Patty are the only ones in.
I tell Patty, “I have my assigned work finished and I need to hook up with the outside customer to do some testing.”
Patty sneers, “Jason, this is the day before Valentine’s Day. Almost all of the people will be sneaking out very early, if they even bother to come in. However, just for the record, I’ll check.” Patty then calls the outside customer. Patty then speaks to whoever, at the outside customer, “Lots of your people out too ... Many cases of the intentional flu ... Same kind of thing here ... Jason will just have to wait for Monday to discuss testing ... Okay, I’ll let him know.”
I say, “I’m off the hook!”
Joan has wandered up. Joan says, “My customer is also, waiting for people to check in.”
Patty sighs, “Look, dummies, the big summer resort, out to the East, has opened up just for Valentine’s Day. All of the horny boys and sexy little girls are signed up for the rooms. Meanwhile, we have to hold the fort here.”
I muse, “We may well get calls from out of town. We do indeed have to hold the fort here. It’s not a big problem for me, my former sweetie has abandoned me. Jason can be alone here, as well as somewhere else, plus I do get paid for being here.”
Patty laughs, “Yes, we do indeed have to hold the fort here, as we may well get calls from out of town. It’s also not a big problem for me, my former heartthrob has abandoned me. His new girlie will use the Valentine's Day activities to try to snag an executive to replace my former heartthrob. I can only wish her luck.”
Joan sighs, “I’m new in town. All of the studly boys are out at the resort. I could have tried to get picked up by a loser, in some bar or get paid for being here. For better or for worse, here I am. At least we have television.”
Patty sighs, “Actually, no we don’t have television. The television people came in and worked on the television hookup and they needed a part that they couldn’t get, yesterday. Thus we don’t have television, until at least Monday.
Joan chirps, “Well then, I came in and I can just go back home. At least I have a television there.”
Patty laughs, “We do indeed have to hold the fort here, as we may well get calls from out of town. The big boss is also scheduled to call in. If you’re not here, to take the call, you don’t get paid. The people who took a Valentine’s Day holiday have holiday time built up. As a new employee, you don’t.”
Joan sighs, “I also used my reserve money to move here. I gotta have the job and the paycheck. I’m stuck here for the next two days. Oh well, at least I brought my lunch in.”
Patty says, “Knowing the typical Valentine’s Day schedules, I also brought my lunch in.”
Jason sneers, “The technical motto is, ‘Be prepared,’ I also brought my lunch in.”
Patty says, “A Valentine’s Day lunch is okay, but it needs some wine and some romance. Unfortunately, the guard in the lobby won’t let any one in, with an alcoholic beverage.”
Jason muses, “There’s and emergency exit, at the back of the technical area, behind the sleeping area. It’s alarmed, but a technical employee knows how to wire past the alarm. If you ladies will vow to keep quiet, I can sneak out and buy a bottle of wine, my treat.”
Joan asks, “Sleeping area?”
Patty lectures, “Sometimes technical tests have to run overnight, perhaps over a few days. The company has a sort of bunk room, at the back of the building.”

I'm the co-author, with Sunset Thomas, of Anatomy of An Adult Film.I have 48 novels and over 299 short stories currently published.I spent my early years in the part of Los Angeles known as the South Central. I was known as Whi' Boy, which was sufficient to identify me in that place. I'm a skilled Kung Fu player, using a system that I learned from a Korean I knew only as 'Pak.' It would be easier to tell you the places that Pak wasn't wanted by the police, rather than the places where he was wanted by the police. Pak's Kung Fu system, augmented by some bits and pieces from some Chinese practitioners is quick and effective, or I wouldn't be alive today. My early education was mostly obtained by stealing books from the public library (I always returned them and the Librarian even began to provide me with reading lists.) I did go to high schools, but I never really learned anything there. I eventually graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles, UCLA, with a degree in mathematics.I work as a Systems Analyst and also make a part of my living as a professional gambler (legal in Nevada.) I write science fiction and erotica. My published novels are:Anatomy of An Adult Film (With Sunset Thomas)1. Second Chance: God Killer2. Second Chance: Sky Pirate3. Second Chance: Scroll Seeker4.
