Children's Short Stories & Poems - Uncle John

My goodness boys and girls, you have done well. This is book number 8. You’re doing great reading all of my books and there are some fantastic adventures in this one. All your favourite characters are in here just waiting for you to read their stories. Some of the stories were sent in by children who read my books from all over the world. If you have a character or a story, or even both, get in touch at:

Some of the characters and artwork were done as usual by Holly Bell of the USA.

I hope you all enjoy all the adventures in this book. OK, let’s start reading.

    Stitches

Drawing and character by Holly Bell

Stitches thinks everyone has been to London, except for himself. So, Tommy asked him if he wanted to spend a day in London.

Yes please Tommy, I would love to go to London for the day, said Stitches.

Tommy called the station and booked two train tickets to London for Sunday. It was soon Sunday and Stitches and Tommy were up at 6 o’clock in the morning, just so they could have a full day in London, walking around and seeing everything.

Their train came into London station and Tommy and Stitches went straight outside to have a look. Tommy hadn’t been to London either. The first place they went, was to see Big Ben and the houses of Parliament. So, they jumped into a London taxi and it took them all the way to Big Ben. Tommy took lots of photos of Stitches standing next to Big Ben.

Stitches asked if he could go and see the Queen, because he thought maybe she’d read about him in one of the books. Tommy laughed at him and said, No one sees the Queen.

She must get very bored if she never sees anyone, said Stitches. She might like me.

You can’t just go and see the Queen, said Tommy.

OK, can we see something else then Tommy? asked Stitches.

Do you want to go and see London Bridge? asked Tommy."

Oh yes please, I’ve seen lots of pictures of London Bridge in my books and it lifts up, said Stitches.

Stitches and Tommy jumped into another taxi and it took them right to London Bridge, just as a big ship was sailing right underneath it.

After that, they were getting hungry and so they had lunch. Then they went to Buckingham Palace, the museum, Madame Tussaud’s wax works, also along the river Thames and had a cup of coffee on a boat.

But it was getting late and they had to get home as it had been a very long day. Once again, they caught a taxi and it took them to the railway station. It took them 2 hours on the train to get back home. Stitches was asleep most of the journey. I bet he dreamed about London when he was asleep, don’t you children?
