About this ebook
Hello children, mums and dads.
Thank you for taking a look at volume 3 of my children's books for ages 3 to 6 years old.
I can promise that there are no stories repeated in any of my books. But the favourite characters are all still there. I do introduce new characters a little later in the volumes however. But as usual all the stories are great adventures. I wish I was there sometimes. I am always looking for new characters and story lines.
I hope you all enjoy the read.

Children's Short Stories & Poems - Uncle John
Welcome to children’s short stories and poems. This is my third book. I am so glad you have chosen to read more of my books. I really do enjoy writing stories and poems for you. Children simply love the adventures in my books and like lots of the characters, especially Stitches and Tommy. My e-books have been read to many children. They have been read at home, in the car, at granny’s house, and even in schools. I do like to write adventures about the popular characters in each book. You may also find a lot of the stories have morals that all children need to learn. Even if they just learn right from wrong. As long as they can understand what is being said and why the outcome of the story is the way it is. Thank you to Holly Bell for some of the characters and some art work. You can see Holly’s work on Fine Art America. If you need any art work, you can contact Holly on hollybell1969@hotmail.com
Enjoy your read and enter into the world of fantasy and fun. Let’s join all the characters in this book on their great adventures.
Stitches fell in the river
Picture and character by Holly Bell
As you know Stitches and Tommy live very near to the sea. But just along the road is the river where they went camping. Stitches has had many adventures in or near water, but guess what? Stitches has never learned to swim. This story shows how important it is to know how to swim.
Stitches and Tommy made some sandwiches and decided to have an afternoon by the river as the weather was really nice and hot. They found the perfect place near the trees for keeping cool and near the water fall. They had been there for about two hours and were a little hungry so decided to have the food they brought with them. After the food Tommy was a little bit tired and wanted to have a little sleep. Stitches wanted to play; he didn’t want to lie down.
Come on Tommy,
shouted Stitches, I want to play.
Go for a walk,
said Tommy as he slowly dropped off to sleep.
Stitches started to walk along the river alone. He threw some stones into the water, dropped a few sticks in the river. He found an old tennis ball, he threw in to see if it would float. Just up the river was a big tree which had fallen over. It had fallen right over the river to the other side. What a great adventure for Stitches this would be. He was going to climb across the river on the big tree. It was hard to get onto the tree because it was very high up. But with the help of a few twigs and branches he made it.
It had been very bad weather the day before and had rained very heavy and the river was running very fast. Stitches was being a silly bear for doing this because if he fell in he would be in trouble. Remember, Stitches can’t swim. He started to walk slowly over the tree. He wobbled a little bit in places but was doing OK. He put his foot on a slippery part of the tree and down he fell, SPLASH! Into the river he went. He sank to the bottom of the river and was very frightened. He could not breathe because he was under the water. Stitches really wished he had learned to swim. But it was all too late, he thought he was drowning.
Character by Holly Bell
He needed to breathe very badly, he breathed in but only swallowed water. He was choking and he was in big trouble. Suddenly he bumped into
