About this ebook

"You are a Huntress. You value honor and righteousness. You did your duty. And I have never been more proud of you."

The Leadership. An organization for and by people who have devoted their lives to protecting humanity from the vile creatures, known as Witches. But don't be deceived, the Leadership is far from valiant. They have hidden all of their secrets behind a thick coating of manipulation, and centuries of brainwashing. However, all will be revealed through five broken but undefeated souls: Eddie. Angel. Caieta. Benzi. And Loyce. The hard way, they had to learn that nothing is sacred but the sole objective. And no one is safe. Not even the purebred soldiers they call children.

"We thank you for your Sacrifice."

    To my readers,

The Twisted Secrets of the Leadership

    Chapter 1:

    2004

    Loyce

I had a full understanding of how the academy worked. Well, of course I did. As everyone kept telling my mother, I was a very special child. And I was. I knew that the academy had eleven levels, similarly to an American human school system’s twelve. I also understood that you were meant to enroll in level one at the age of five and it was equivalent to sixth grade.

Knowing all of this, I had to know that I was special because at six years old I would be completing level five. Otherwise known as tenth grade. My mother was really proud of that. She kept saying, look at the Huntress I gave birth to.

I was that Huntress. I really liked that my mother gave me a lot of attention. That she was so pleased and delighted that I was her daughter. My father too. Unfortunately, I think they often forgot that I had a younger brother.

    Eddie

    Three years old.

    Barely.

I was barely three years old when I first noticed my parent’s, especially my mother’s, distaste for me. She was beginning to notice that I wasn’t much like my talented older sister. Not nearly as skilled or intelligent. In fact, I was just barely above average by Leadership standards. But even at my premature age, I noticed her disappointment. Actually, she and my father were making a point to be rather obvious about it.

Through no fault of my own, my parents had decided that they weren’t at all fond of me and that as soon as it was appropriate they would disown me. It wasn’t a terribly hard decision for them, either.

    Chapter 2:

    2005

    Loyce

Apparently my level six completion scores were something to marvel at. In fact, they were so impressive that a tall, fat man came to the house to congratulate me. I knew who he was before he squatted down in front of me and asked if I did. Like that question wasn’t a complete give away.

You are Mathrel, I said. The president of our organization. Just like your father. And his father. And one day your son. The fat man’s smile wavered at the mention of the boy. But not for long. He ran his hand over his light brown, almost red, beard and his abnormally large grin returned.

That is correct. And I am here today because I have a proposition for you. Do you know what that word means?

Yes, I sighed as if it were obvious. I just scored a 1542 on my sixth level completion exams. I know what most words mean.

The man nodded. That’s a very high score. Higher than mine even.

I chuckled a bit. I know. It is the highest score in recorded Leadership history. My mother says I have a real gift and it should be acknowledged.

Which brings me back to my proposal. He looked up to my mother briefly before his gaze returned to me. I want to make you my personal student. I want to give you the opportunity to learn directly from me.

I could just hear my mother’s excitement building. My God, really? She laughed. Of course! Yes! She leaned down behind me and grabbed my shoulders. We are honored that you would make her your pupil.

The man smiled and nodded at my parents. Well, Loyce? He held his hand out to me. What do you think?

I looked down at the man’s chubby, thick fingers and thought for a moment. It would be an honor to be learning directly from our president. I could pick his brain on any detail. But I was suspicious. Mr. Mathrel-

    Mathrel is fine.

I pierced my lips. Sir, I have to wonder. If you have a son who will one day be your heir, why are you taking the time to train me? Wouldn’t he deserve that privilege?

He shook his head mockingly. No one deserves anything.

But wouldn’t he be the first to get that chance?

No. He was growing tired of this line of questioning.

    But I wasn’t. Why? I continued.

    Because he-

    Because what?

Young lady! He was irritated with me. I could feel my mother’s nails digging into my shoulders. I had pushed too far. His smile had fled, and his eyes were piercing into me. You are an intelligent and talented girl. But be sure to check yourself in the presence of authority.

I was taken back. No one had spoken out to me before. No one had needed to. I was mortified at the thought of disrespecting my teacher.

    "Yes
