    PROLOGUE

    October 17th, 2012

The touch of his lips sent shivers through my body as it did every morning he left me for work. It was the one thing he always did and I loved him for it. He kissed me tenderly while I was asleep as he made his stretch of ten to twelve hour days at his job. It was that kiss that kept me going all day long until I saw him later that night. That soft touch of his hands that carefully slid over my cheek like he admired how I looked every morning before he went to work. It was my touch, my lips, my presence that got him through his day.

Today felt different and I wasn’t sure why, but I was awake when he walked in the bedroom this morning. I smiled at him as he walked towards the bed, admiring his body. Bradley was tall, dark brown hair and beautiful brown eyes that made me weak in the knees anytime I could stare into them. His hair was perfectly sculpted with gel, his spikes adding some more length to his already six two frame. His blue striped suit with white tie neatly ironed, looked seamless. I knew he must have had meetings today if he was this dressed up for work. As he leaned in the bed, he was surprised my eyes were open.

Hey, baby. I smiled, stretching out under the covers as he smiled back.

What are you doing awake, he whispered, Get your beauty sleep.

I have another hour to sleep, but I couldn’t resist seeing you leave if I was awake. I yawned. Brad glanced at the clock; he was running a tad late, it was 5:45am.

Wish I could stay home with you, we’d call in sick.

I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him into me closer and kissed his cheek. I know, but you have a busy day, and you’re going to be late. We’ll have plenty of time to call in sick. Forever, ever babe.

That’s why I love you, I love you so fucking much. He pressed his lips to mine before I could say anything. He backed off quickly, as he needed to get going and I was keeping him.

Go, babe! I smacked his ass. He blew a kiss and I caught it in my hands and pressed it to my face as I curled back under the covers and watched him head out of the bedroom grabbing his work bag. I lay there peacefully as this made my morning. Maybe I should wake up with him more often. Then I thought about my long day ahead. An extra hour of sleep was what I needed right now. I closed my eyes and drifted asleep before my alarm clock would sound.

I woke up right before my alarm went off, checked my social media and noticed I had a couple text messages from Brad telling me he made it to work safely and how much he missed me. How much he wished he could have called in sick today to stay with me in bed. I wished that too. I got out of bed and started the shower. My flower shop wasn’t going to run itself.

My business was my dream. Brad had been letting me live that dream now for the last two years. He’s helped me fund it and get it started and has helped me on the slow months and used money to promote it. It’s not easy running your own business when you’re in competition with the other local flower places. I had big plans for it, including spreading it further out to other cities around me and hiring on more people as long as I hit my goals for the next six months. Brad was my business coach as that was his calling. He worked for a company that helped businesses expand and created hope for them. He made really good money doing it, and when he heard I wanted to have my own business someday, he made it happen almost overnight. Always going out of his way to make me happy. He even used the opportunity to do an awesome scavenger hunt to propose by showing me my shop. My shop that was all mine, and mine to do with as I wanted. Mine that would become ours, because that’s when he dropped down on one knee and I couldn’t say yes fast enough. I knew with every fiber in my body that I wanted to marry this man. But with work so busy, we haven’t had time to buckle down with wedding plans. That was our goal for this year. To plan our wedding. My parents only nagged us with that for two years, so it was only right to start this year; we’d been engaged long enough. In fact, we had plans to meet with a venue this evening and grab some dinner. I had almost forgotten about it till last night when Brad mentioned it before going to bed. He was way more organized than me.

Stepping out of the shower, I grabbed my towel and wrapped it around me while I wrung the water out of my long blonde hair. Scrunching the towel to my wet locks, I glanced at myself in the mirror. I haven’t been much happier in life than I was now. This was pure bliss and we were not even married. All our friends were married and having babies, and that was ok. We’d have our time, and if Brad was in complete charge, we would already have babies by now.

My phone started playing my favorite song and let me know I had an incoming call. Call me Maybe blasted and my best friend Sara’s picture flashed in the background.

Hey! I answered with pep in my step as I scurried to get my clothes for work.

Hey, what are you doing later? Dinner? she asked in somewhat of a hurry.

"Actually, Brad and I have dinner plans and were checking out a venue. Would you be interested in joining? I wouldn’t mind having my maid of
