About this ebook
Throughout life, people experience ups and downs. There is birth, love, and death. The basics of life. We must also accept there are memories, good and bad. Happy and pain that should always find balance and that is what life is about. Trial and reward. Happiness and heartache. Remembering to laugh even in the ugly, just living is the reward in its self. I have experienced ups and downs, no different from anyone else. These poems and short stories are ones I have written throughout my life. I hope you can relate to them.

Loving literature and the adventure a good book can take you inspired me as a young child to be an avid reader. As I grew older I played with poetry finding unique ways to send messages that were dear to me. As an adult, my messages have become less dark and more concerned. My first series of books are short novelettes about the Elementals and the destruction of the Earth. The mistreatment of the Earth and its inhabitants are something that I hold dear to me. Recognizing everyone is unique but should be allowed to express themselves. The fantasy realms help me leave the world we live in, and adventure in one we would only dream of. The adventures I write are a combination of my dreams and beliefs brought to life. I had worked in manufacturing most of my life and had been downsized several times. I went on to college received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Programs and am now a Buyer/Planner by day and Fantasy write by night. Writing started out as a way to express and vent about the trials of life. It has grown to be a way to share with others who want to get away from the stress of life to a world of beauty and magic.

A Day in Life - Janeen Abdo
Behind the Doors
I opened the doors
Do you walk inside?
Do you close the doors?
The question is asked
The answers are unknown
The feeling of fear fills you
Do you walk away?
Look inside and see
Time tells you the days
Skies tell you the moods
But you say how
You must see and risk
To move on without looking
Leaves the wonder of it all
Open the doors to see
What is needed to be done
My eyes show my soul
The dreams are my wishes
Nightmares are the fears
Help me find the answers
Behind closed doors
Darkness Rises
The nights move quickly
To reach the sky
The moon shines through
The stars breaking the black
The pools of emptiness
Drowning all that's near
To hear the screams
Reality is not rare
Blood pours from the wounds
These are not to be seen
The scars cover nothing
The lies and secrets are to be seen
Waking of screams
They are your own
The memories have gone bad
Remembering the ages of when life began
The flames are shooting out the sky
Confusion is the fires burning high
To forget the past-
—Is ignorance to the future
To live in the past-
—Is ignorance to life
Dreams
Colors are fading
Into a darkness
A world begins
Only to be yours
Anything Happens
Your wishes deep inside
Your fears become too real
As your soul comes alive
Let go and move on
But something keeps coming
Open your eyes- It’s all a dream
It keeps returning- It’s something more
Could it be memories - keep haunting you
Could it be wishes -waiting to come true
What a dream can be
A desire only you know
A fear from within your own soul
A future- A past
Open your eyes the dreams always last
Eyes of Soul
There is a crazy gypsy
In my soul, she lives
Dancing all around me
Laughing in my head
Her colors are blinding
Her questions unworthy
Her lies of no end
The twisting of my mind
She plays to win
It’s a world of lost hope
Dreams that never end
The path that I seek
She exploits it
I know this gypsy
From so long ago
She picked me up
As I fall so low
She holds me tight
I cannot leave
So now it is my time to fight
My sanity is on the line
Up, are the walls she builds
They have cracks and chips
Yet they never fall
I must break them down
To live another day
I must find my hopes
Then make my dreams come true
This gypsy must let me go
A long time has passed
I am this crazy gypsy in my soul
I built the walls so long ago
My fears and doubts are what make them grow
I push them aside
I come to life
I see the colors
The pool of blue
Just enough
To set me free
The length of blackness
Holding on to all
To linger and stare
To bring on all the strength
All that needs to be done
Go
There will come a day
We must go our separate ways
The feeling inside our hearts-
——will turn to pain
The loss that I feel—
——Will have to be cherished
No longer will I feel your warmth
No longer will I smell your scent
I hate this feeling
It is coming quicker for me
All I have left is memories
Before this day
It is time for me to let go
You have a life to live
Your future is unknown
I cannot keep holding you back
You have a light inside of you
You must let it glow and live
Never giving up, I know it is hard
I am giving you up to you
Hear My Cry
Set back
Time for now
