    Introduction

I was hesitant to tell my story in my first book, but I knew it had to be done. It was one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life. If you haven’t read Part 1, please do. It will give you a different perspective on my life and help you understand my personality in business.

Business is nowhere near its top peak for me, but I realize that I’m much further along than most people will ever make it. No shade, but hundreds of thousands of small businesses fail every day. It’s not easy to win in business, but it is possible if you know how to fight. I didn’t want to wait until I’m on Oprah’s level to tell my story. I want you to know about the beginning of the business, the early struggles and successes, and bring you up to where I am today. My goal for this book is to show you there’s many ways to make it. Everyone’s story is different. I want you to understand that your story is unique and as you learn from the game, you should teach it. I know I have some insight that will confirm some things in your mind and also teach you a thing or two. I don’t claim to know it all. I don’t claim to have the most successful hair business in the world, but I know I am amongst the top. The way I see it I’m just the one willing to share the game with you. This is the beginning and it won’t be the end. Just for you, I’m rolling out an online course to dive much deeper than I can in the book. So after you finish reading this book and formulating your thoughts about your business, look for the online course to hands on guide you on your journey. The course will go deeper and the downloadable workbook will help you develop your business even more.

I want to break the mold. We need to realize that we can’t get it all unless we are willing to give it all. It’s a competition out here, but you can’t let competition consume you and harden your heart. We are givers by nature, but the world has made us very selfish and jealous. I had to get beyond that mindset in order to show others that we don’t have to compete with one another to win. Compete with yourself. Beat your best. Out-do you. After you’ve read this book, bless someone else with a copy and show them that you’re inviting them to the industry and you don’t see them as competition. There is no real competition when you’re being yourself and doing what is on your heart. Others may try to copy you, but they can’t duplicate you because there is only one you. No one sauce will ever taste like yours even with your recipe! Trust YOUR process.

I want to see women and men win. Our kids and families should be able to count on us for more than just giving birth. We gotta give our worth! You can achieve anything you set your mind to. It doesn’t have to be a fairytale story. Dreams can become a reality. There may be a lot of pain and failure on the journey, but you’ll learn from me PAIN CAN BE TURNED TO PROFIT. If you don’t let it crush you! Will you let it make you feel sorry for yourself and hate the world, or will you seek healing and change the world? What you do with the pain you’ve felt is up to you. If you’ve read Part 1 of my book series then you know first hand a great deal about pain. And, if I can overcome what I’ve been through, you can overcome anything too. BUT, it is up to you! I know I’m special, but I also know that I’m no more special than anyone else. We are all uniquely gifted and I hope this book inspires you to Make It Happen, no matter what industry you’re in. Stop watching the so-called competition and become the competition they are watching. Nothing happens until you start happening. Now let’s get to this MOTHERFLIPPING MONEY!

    CHAPTER 1

    The American Dream

    Daring Quote:

Stop thinking you missed out on an opportunity. When will you realize you are the opportunity?

What is the American Dream to you? Do you realize some people in other countries want the American Dream? Honestly, I thought I wanted that too at some point. I was working in Corporate America at a major bank. I got there the hard way. I had to get my GED on my own because I got pregnant in high school, which shifted my life for what some thought was the worst. I didn’t expect to be in that place, but life happens.

I found myself trying to crawl from the ground up. I took my pain, life experience, and everything I knew and jumped out there to chase the so-called dream. I found an entry-level position at the bank, working in collections. I guess this was the grunt work they give you when you’re new to the business. Whatever I do, I give it my all. I figure out a way to make it work, and I don’t accept NO for an answer. There is always a way to get ahead no matter where you are in life. I truly believe that and I don’t see how people around me could settle for less. If I’m doing it, I want to be the best at it. My rank started to change around the building. My name was ringing in the ears of the upper management. The other employees who worked with me maybe felt a way, but I didn’t care who I outshined because I was there to get mine. I gave so much of myself, but I didn’t know a very important lesson. I didn’t know that in Corporate America, it doesn’t matter how much you give, you’re still nothing but a number to them. You’re not a human; you’re a product or a robot.

They gave us goals and I crushed them. We had a quota to hit in collections and I went way past that mark. I don’t know what was helping me succeed — maybe it was my phone voice or something. I just knew the goal in mind and I was determined to get it. I had been sort of spoiled growing up. I was always dressed nice and had the latest of everything. As an adult, I wanted the same life. If you give me a job and tell me I can make more than the base pay if I perform well, I’m going to be the MVP. I couldn’t see myself, but they could see me. They saw me, but that’s all they saw in me. I knew deep down that I had more in me and I wanted more from life. I couldn’t really tell what my bosses thought of me though.

    Eventually things started to
