KRISHNA BHAAVIN
It was a beautiful December morning with a light nip in the air. Mumbai winters were never too chilly. A post was anxiously expected at the premises of Wandering Souls LLP. Amar Shah – Founder & MD of the company – was earnestly waiting.
It was 12 noon when Edwina, his EA knocked Amar’s cabin seeking his permission to enter. Amar asked her to come in.
Sir, here is the magazine you have been pining for
Edwina spoke as she handed over the envelope to Amar.
Finally! Thank you, Edwina
Amar thanked her in an increasingly excited tone.
Edwina left his cabin. Amar browsed through the envelopes delivered and found a copy of the prestigious CII magazine dated Dec 3 packed in a thin cellophane sheet. He ripped the transparent plastic cover apart and glanced at the cover page for a moment.
‘100 top profit making start-ups – Full Story on page 15’
Written in thick bold font, headlines were supported by a small graphical illustration of a numerical chart showing an upward escalating arrow denoting a profitable growth. Amar fumbled and opened Page 15 to read the big list. He started reading from the top, hoping to find his company’s name amongst the top few. His heart was racing through the roof as he exclaimed with excitement, Yes! We nailed it - #5!
He was so happy after a very long time and the only thing he thought of in that moment was to share the good news with people who would be equally happy! It was surprising that it didn't occur to him to call his wife Disha. Or maybe it wasn't.
He reached out for his intercom to dial Edwina’s extension and asked her to call for an urgent meeting with the CXO Team.
He headed for the conference room with the CII magazine in his hand. He glanced at the magazine and the sheer excitement gave him goosebumps as he couldn’t contain his happiness. He started writing something on the whiteboard while waiting for his colleagues. Raghav Agarwal – CEO; Aryan Jain – COO; Samrat Naik – CFO; Tanya Mehra – CMO together formed the Leadership team of the company. Raaghav and Samrat met at the corridor while walking towards the conference room.
Raaghav asked Samrat, Is this one of those target discussion meetings?
with a displeased tone.
Samrat answered, I have no idea what this is about. I just hope this doesn’t lead to any more late working hours.
They saw Aryan enter the conference room from a distance and walked faster. Tanya was the last one to join the team in the conference room.
The whiteboard in the room had the word CONGRATULATIONS
written in bold letters with a red marker pen. Written in a perceptibly hurried and excited way. One could almost sense celebration in the writing itself. Everybody was confused with this message.
Amar placed the magazine on the round table and announced, Guess what?
The moment they saw the headline on the cover page, it hit home like a bolt from the blue. Amar could see they got it. He elatedly declared We nailed it guys.
Aryan took a wild guess Are we at Number 1?
Amar laughingly denied saying, Aryan not yet…but I’m glad you already aim for it. We are at #5 and that my friends are great news for a company that came into existence only 6 years ago. I thank you all for working so hard and helping us achieve this phenomenal milestone.
Boisterous encores and excited cheers filled
