Now now now, Katie continued. Don’t look at me like that, Carson. Jeez. You’d think it was the end of the world. You’re just going to be a girl for a while. People do it for their whole lives. And if you ever want this body back— he gestured up and down the length of my fit, muscular, stolen physique, —you’re going to do exactly what I tell you to do from now on. He shook his head at me like I was some kind of stupid, rebellious teenager. "Swapping out my birth control was low even for you. You know what I hate more than anything? People trying to take away my bodily autonomy. Since you’re so keen to force other people into being pregnant and making them do things against their wishes, I thought you might like a little taste of your own medicine. You wanted a baby, so you’re going to get one—only you’re going to carry it and birth it over the next nine months. I’ll be you, and you’ll be me. You’ll do exactly as I say every day, and if you’re the perfect model of a pregnant housewife and take good care of my body and the baby, then you can have your old body back. But if you don’t… He shrugged and took another sip of coffee. Well, we can keep trying over and over again until you get it right. You told me you always wanted lots of kids, right?"

My insides churned, and it wasn’t due to morning sickness. I placed my hands protectively over my belly, the belly where right now I had a baby growing inside of my womb.
