Introduction
Food is good for you . . . Food should always be enjoyable and enjoyed (give you joy), and yet in our current environment this simple fact seems to have been lost or distorted.
I run a private hypnotherapy practise in Australia and many of my clients come to me because food terrifies them. They have come to believe that food is their enemy; it makes them fat; it makes them sick sad, and depressed. For these people, there is no joy in food. For people who have lost the art of eating properly or have never been shown/taught simple basic facts about nutrition, this has become a sad fact of modern life.
I am not a nutritionist. I have no formal training in this area. My knowledge and experience comes from researching on food and digestion so that I can give my clients the very best help that I can to help them reclaim the right to feel good about themselves.
The recent increase in anxiety around food and body image seems to be growing rapidly, and this situation caused me to decide to spend most of my spare time during 2011 researching and preparing the information you find in this e-book and hypnotic recordings. My intention in joining in the current discussion is to shed some light on a complex area.
An area filled with contradictions and confusion; there are so many diet and self-help books available, so many magazine articles, and television programs as well as Internet sites and blogs. Most of them offer quick fixes to long-standing problems! Five-day transformations are promised to transport you out of your current state of dissatisfaction and frustration to a wonderland of health, vitality, and attractiveness.
So much is promised, and for the fortunate few, who suit a particular eating style, these results are achievable—different from maintainable—there is probably even a goddess diet in print somewhere.
I will not/cannot promise you anything close to a perfect body in such a short time. My intention is very different because all of you are so different. We are told that we all share something close to 98 per cent of the same genetic material, and yet our minds and bodies are all so unique in how they function. This is part of the reason, you have failed to achieve the effect you want even though you have put so much effort into dieting in the past.
What I can give you is some easy to read and easy to understand ways to create a change in your life. Part of my initial training was in neurolinguistic programming (NLP), and most NLP training starts with explaining a list of presuppositions (beliefs). There are thirteen of these in total, the thirteenth says, ‘If you want to understand, act.’ This is because the learning is in the doing.
My intention is to show you how to read your environments—both external and internal. The signals you receive from your physical self and your conscious and unconscious minds create your beliefs, which in turn manifest as behaviours or habits. Your likes and dislikes, what you choose to notice, and what you choose to ignore, and the filters you put in place are all a part of your internal environment. They all play a powerful part in creating particular behaviours and reactions in your wider external environment.
If we are unhappy about a situation and yet do not seem to be able to control or change it to suit us better, we need to look at the belief we have in relation to it. Our beliefs create the mental state that manifests. It might be a state of confusion, of resentment, of anger, or of acceptance; when we put up with our disappointments, and feel that we do not have the ability or strength to do what we want to do, we need to understand the signals that our unconscious mind is sending and change our mental state to one that is more effective and powerful.
You want to lose weight and quickly, and you are tired of fighting to achieve that elusive beautiful body. Your body and your mind seem to be conspiring against you, making you hold onto the fat no matter how little or how infrequently you eat. You feel tired, let down, and dispirited. Well, it does not have to be like this, not at all. Negative self-talk and negative beliefs as well as a lack of important life skills have all contributed to your current problems.
I was fortunate enough to major in psychology at the Australian National University here in Canberra. I also took a second major in philosophy an area that has always interested me. These preliminary studies have given me a particular framework in which to develop my clinical hypnotherapy practise and has helped me to create my own style and approach to helping people overcome difficult personal situations.
Being involved in a clinical practise allows me to talk to a wide range of clients, and this in turn has deepened my appreciation and understanding of what makes life enjoyable. It has allowed me to experience first-hand the excitement that beneficial change can bring. When you change your belief, you change the way you see, feel, act, and react to many different situations, and hypnosis frees you up. Even one session can create a ripple effect across your personal reality. I love it!
When you accept the possibility that you can do things differently, you will. All change takes place first at the unconscious level and then we become aware of it. The three hypnotic recordings that you download via your code will create a framework for you to develop your own unique road map for success. We are dealing with health and body image issues here, but the positive effects will continue to vibrate and affect your life. This book and these recordings will have a profound effect upon you if you allow such possibilities to occur because what you read here and what you hear in the scripts will let you change your mind and your thinking. All of the changes will have positive implications and open up unlooked for avenues for you.
Embrace this opportunity; see for yourself what you are capable of, experience for yourself the enjoyment of good eating, of the socialisation, and simple pleasures your can gain from eating well, eating fresh, and eating food that feeds and nurtures you.
Over the past few decades, our food has become degraded as we over-farm and over-process our food to meet increased demand. The natural goodness in the soil has become exhausted and plants are now fed synthetic food just like we are. This depleted cycle of life is now becoming obvious to us as health levels go down and serious disease increases across a widening range of society.
I have included a section in this book that deals with the importance of a correct pH balance in our bodies. This is as important, perhaps even more so than our current infatuation with cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Science is only now beginning to understand a bigger picture of what we have done by almost creating non-foods. I think of processed foods as fillers rather than food. They fill you up, but they often fail to feed you. They satisfy for a moment, yet they fail to satisfy your real physical needs.
This is the truth behind all the mindless eating so many people now engage in. Our bodies and our brains are desperate to get
