I have always wanted to write a book, but never knew what to write about. All of a sudden I knew that the work I do is what I wanted to write about; to help those entering The Youth Care Industry with insight before they begin their rewarding career. My work is so very important to not only me but those I care for, as this industry is very rewarding. I am now 55 years old and I believe that I found my niche in life caring for youth with issues and that my life skills have enhanced my academic skills in this industry. I thank all of the team that I work with, as they are all great people and also a special thanks to the youth I have worked with in the past to the present – you are all very special people. All I can say to those that read this book, written in dedication to the youth I have and am caring for, is to focus on helping these children strive towards a healthy, fulfilled, happy and independent life. Work together as a team and treasure the precious moments. You will have some tough times, but we all know you need to go through the tough to get to the good…Life wasn’t meant to be easy. Happy reading and enjoy your new found career.

Chapter 1
The Beginning Of A Rewarding Career Move
I started out working as a dental nurse at the age of 17, this career lasted over 20 years and taught me a great deal about human beings and emotions of people in pain. I then decided it was time for a change and worked in the Hospitality industry for 5 years, in which I became counsellor, knowledge of the general public’s troubles; trials and tribulations. Thus, giving me yet another view on the emotions of human beings. After the 5 years in Hospitality my career changed to working in Job Network, this entailed working with a diversity of people from all walks of life. Once again this showed even more about the human emotions and troubles people had to deal with in society.
It was at this point I decided to get into my dream job of becoming a Youth Worker. While at Job Services, working full time, I embarked on study; something I had not done for a very long time.
