Introduction
Have you ever found yourself in a downward spiral of negative thinking? You’re so deep that you cannot even figure out how you got there in the first place. Life sometimes is hard to navigate. I know . . . I have been there.
From my teenage to young adult years, I was frequently told that I was spoiled because things always came easily to me. Interestingly, my parents had average jobs, and we grew up in an average neighborhood. I simply had a passion, determination, and a good attitude toward life. And I believe that is what made me successful.
While I was studying, I played football professionally. It was my identity. But by the time I hit my early twenties, I transitioned to a 9–5 job, which brought high-stress levels my way. I lost my focus and confidence and eventually lost myself. My identity was strongly intertwined with my athletic lifestyle, and it was a major struggle for me to go back to becoming the thriving person I used to be. I hit burnout and took some time off work.
I got married, and soon after, my husband and I welcomed our first baby girl. Motherhood is a major life shift and game changer! You go from being as free as a bird to having a little human completely dependent on you. My husband, who was running his own company at the time, worked long hours and was not available during our baby girl’s first year. I was totally overwhelmed. By the time we welcomed our second daughter, it felt like things were brighter because my husband was much more available to lend a hand with the children. However, children are different. My second daughter nursed every hour through the night resulting in me being sleep-deprived. I kept telling myself it was only a phase that would pass, but this continued for eleven months.
The lack of adequate sleep and being surrounded by people with negative thought patterns compromised my mental health, and I completely lost myself. All I could think of were the things I did not have. My thoughts, words, and actions were negative.
You get to a point where you know you cannot keep doing the same old things. I knew I needed to address my mental health, so I consciously began searching for a way out. At that point, I came across information about manifesting, affirmations, and how to live on a high vibration. I was open to obtaining knowledge that could give me more purpose and fulfillment. That was the turning point of my life’s trajectory! I began to say my daily affirmations, and I started to manifest my life. In a short period, I watched my life turn around for the better.
