She came to the United States in 1985 as a teenager. She studied hospitality management and became a hotel manager for many of the major hotel brands. She met her husband, Chef Michael Wilson, twenty years ago and quickly became part of a modern blended family, with a total of six children; he had three, she had two, and they have one.
She had to change careers to tend to the demands of her new growing family needs. She became a health care administrator and had a career in health care. She completed a master’s degree in management, with a focus on project management, to take her career to the next level as a management consultant and project manager.
Irma is also an entrepreneur. Her hobbies were turned into lucrative businesses, such as her bridal consultant firm “Irma Premier Weddings & Events”, where she combined her love of travel and specialized in destination weddings and events in the Caribbean. She is passionate about helping couples create their dream weddings and also enjoy creating exquisite affairs for her clients to celebrate their major life events that they entrust her with.
Her philanthropic activities are wide ranging. Recently, since Haiti’s earthquake in 2010, she serves as a member of the board of directors with CEHAH—Centre Haitien D’Action Humanitaire, a nonprofit organization that functions in the United States, Canada, and Haiti. She initiates fund-raising events and takes on many initiatives to make a difference in the lives of Haitian people. Irma is CEHAH’s 2012 Humanitarian Award Recipient. This honor was given in recognition of an unwavering commitment and devotion to Haiti through her work at CEHAH. She volunteered at hospitals and shelters.
