Words of Mine: Today and Yester Year

This is my second poetry book (my first was Somebody Elses Words Were Mine). I have incorporated both up-to-date material and poems that Ive written at least eight years ago in this book. My first book was made up of only old poems from almost two decades ago, which were published in February 2014. On my recent house move, I uncovered more poems that Id written just under a decade ago. I seem to have written in bouts, often unaware that there are large gaps in my creative periods.
My family is now settled in our new home, spending time walking our dogs and taking them on holidays with us. A while ago, on a beach in Devon, both dogs were one minute running along the sand happily, then off they went heading for Burgh Island, where they climbed on to rock and jumped into sea. It was a heart-in-mouth moment! The dog managed to survive that holiday, no worse for wear. My family has been great support to me both with my writing and setting up my new website. I would like to thank them all for their patience and support.

This is my first book, most of the poems were written many years ago, and they have been sitting in a book awaiting a time to be set free. My first poem is from back in a time when mine and my children’s lives were very different. Thankfully our lives are so much better now however I am aware that there are a lot of men and women living in similar circumstance I hope my word sow a seed of hope! Warm thanks to my family and friends who help and support me especially my grown up children who I am very proud of they are great individuals. Also my sister who bought my faithfully dog harry for me, he was only 5 weeks old when we meet, an abandon chocolate lab cross puppy. I am now remarried to a kind and gentle man the journey to find him has had high and lows learning to trust my own judgment was not easy that’s why there were a few frogs alone the way. I think myself lucky I’m enjoying life and now have two young Labradors who bring such fun, laughter and lots of mud in to my life.
