About this ebook

The instrument in my hand is a pen of freedom. The pen is mighty for it can declare things that are true.

The mighty pen has the power to influence for good or incite evil. It creates in the mind of a reader intent and purpose.Ideas will flow from the heart and mind. Down the arm and through the wiggling hand to the end of the pen and onto the paper, where the journey begins. Not all pens are alike. But they are all at the disposal of the hand that picks them up. As long as there is ink in the pen work can be done.

A working pen means ideas can be shared, feelings conveyed, and notes written. People can feel chastised, praised, bored or entertained with a few swipes of a pen. Notes can be verbose or they can be terse. Pen, paper, words and intent combine to change the world or just a perception of it. History was made and continues to change with just the swipe of a pen.

    BOOKS…

Books are a journey into the past the present the future and at times the ludicrous. They are filled with facts, mingled with fiction and based on someone’s real life experiences. Perhaps a bit distorted with the hope of what might have been thrown into the mix. To entertain, enlighten, horrify or teach an idea. Nothing is off limits. People, feelings, prejudices, ideas, perceptions and outcomes all meet on the pages of a book. The characters march from page to page. They change and grow as pages turn into chapters. Everyone doing what is expected based on the character flaws they have.

No one really steps out of the bounds the author has set for the character’s ultimate fate. All things come together as planned. Yet not before twisting and turning and going down forbidden roads to unmarked territory. With beads of sweat on their foreheads as well as ours. Some lines are read over and over so we, along with the character, get to relive the experiences we want them to. Profound ideas are laced within the pages that inspire us, that change us. That either soften us or plunge us deeper into our cynical selves. All books serve a purpose, even if it’s only to prop up an air conditioner in a window. The books that line the shelves of our homes reveal what’s important to us. They reveal our interests and passions. Some shelves boast all the classics merely for show. The fiction, mysteries and true crime show a side not readily revealed to the public.

Almost every shelf in every home will support at least a few self-help or how to’s or healthy eating/exercize books The collector of old books has a passion for the old and valuable. Books contain facinating characters. The books we choose to read makes us facinating characters. The more we read the more knowledgeable we become. We learn and embrace new ideas, share them and ultimately grow into a well-rounded person.

Nothing is more revealing than two new friends who discover they like the same author. Quickly they compare what books they have read by him. What ones they haven’t and what ones they want to. Their likes and dislikes of the characters within each book. This new friend’s opinion now carries influence. When someone finds another person they can have this experience
