As the Visionary and Leader for Bethel Empowerment Centre, I have served as pastor since 1979 and presently provide pastoral leadership to a congregation of over 1,000 members in Castries, Saint Lucia. During many years of pasturing I have seen the power of God manifested to bring great deliverance from all kinds of spiritual and physical bondages, to His people. My intention for writing this book is not to establish a theological treat or to present a comprehensive research on the topic of deliverance and spiritual warfare. As a Baccalaureate Graduate of the West Indies School of Theology, I am aware that to do justice to the many topics discussed in this book warrants deeper, special attention. Therefore the work presented is by no means exhaustive, and any student of spiritual warfare will need to do further studies on the topics.

This book intends to guide individuals to greater understanding of deliverance, and by extension spiritual warfare. It serves as a manual and guide to personal deliverance for those seeking to be free from many forms of bondages and strongholds. Some readers may be familiar with the terms and weighty matters that are discussed, whereas for others the issues may be new. Still, this very approach to deliverance may astound some readers but I assure you that if you begin reading this book and do not stop, in the end you shall be transformed by the knowledge you receive. As it is written in John 8:32, And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free, allow the truths of the revelations in the following pages to bring you to the knowledge that is readily available to set you free.

In this book on deliverance, I would like to acknowledge the work of a powerful woman. This woman hails from the scenic, beautiful island of Saint Lucia, which forms part of the archipelago in the Eastern Caribbean seas. This 238 square mile volcanic island is home to the world’s only ‘drive in’ volcano where Sister Gabriella Mathieu lives—the town of Soufriere, of which a large part is a designated world heritage site.

Sister Mathieu is a fearless, compassionate, and God-loving warrior, with a burning passion and desire to see human beings delivered from the power of darkness. As a gifted servant of God, I have had the pleasurable opportunity to serve with her for many years. Together we brought deliverance to many people in Saint Lucia and other parts of the world. Her spiritual insight, through the gifts of ‘discerning of spirits’, ‘word of knowledge’, and strong ‘prophetic unction’ have helped and inspired me to write with the aim of helping people get their supernatural deliverance.

Introduction

In this book we will be looking at healing through deliverance. This series is specially geared for people who have been struggling with many difficulties throughout their lives and do not know the reason why they are in bondage, why they have been messed-up, why sickness is continuous, or why they find themselves in a cycle of defeat which faces them everywhere they turn.

So in this book, we will be unlocking some of the reasons why people are sick continuously and why there are life-controlling issues that they are unable to handle. We will be addressing the issues with regards to the many problems of oppression, suppression and depression that are over the lives of people, and why so many people in our world are not having a fulfilled life in God. These issues wil be discussed in this series as we move across the pages of Scripture.

The Scripture gives us a clear understanding in 1 John 3:8. It tells us,

He that commits sin is of the devil, for the devil sins from the beginning…1,

but the scripture also explains this to us,

 . . . for this purpose was the Son of God manifest that He might destroy all the works of the devil.1

In the book of St. John 8:31-38 onwards we see Jesus saying to

those who follow Him in His journey and in His ministry, that if anyone is going to be His disciples they will have to obey His word, follow His words indeed2.

He also said,

They shall know the truth, the truth shake make them free.3

He explains further in that passage,

that whosoever the Son makes free is free indeed.2

The Scripture is clear that Jesus Christ came to bring deliverance.

In the book of Luke chapter 4 and as early as verse 18, Jesus declared that,

The Spirit of the Lord was upon Him because God has anointed Him to bring deliverance to the captives, to set those who were bruised into liberty and to open the prison doors.4
