Cara a kind and gentle red cow gives birth to a beautiful little calf with tiny little hearts on her ears, whom she names Valentine. All is well for Valentine and her mommy until the day that big awful Sergei and his evil pack of wolves come to visit. On this day Sergei and his pack of wolves changed Valentines life forever. At her very young age, Valentine must leave the comfort and safety of her home to go and live elsewhere. So Valentine and her friends Amethyst the purple dragonfly, Kagan the chickadee and Kanani the small black and green butterfly are asked to go and live at Wakefield meadow in Sheldon valley with the great black stallion Patton, his harem and their little ones. This becomes a new beginning for young Valentine, upon arriving at Wakefield meadow Valentine is greeted by many young ponies and its not long before she is friends with all of them. All of them, that is, except for Ransom the little black colt with the white spot on his forehead. Who, with resentfulness toward her, he tries to prove that he is better in all things then she is. But no matter how hard Ransom tries to mess things up, the loving calf Valentine, always follows her heart and helps Ransom out of his predicaments and in doing so not only does she save his life but she also sets good examples for her friends.

Spring brings forth new life at Wakefield meadow in Sheldon valley. Where the dew covered grasses are freckled with many little flowers, and the humming sound of the bumble bees who are busy collecting their pollen fills the air. On this day the skies are slightly over cast with the promise of rain. All of the mothers have given birth and are busy nurturing their newborn foals. Up high on the hill stands tall, the great black stallion Patton, who is watching over his harem with pride. With a profound sadness in her heart the serene mare Chesna comes to stand by his side to admire all of her friends and their little ones. I truly am sorry for your loss Chesna, comforts Patton, I’m sure one day you will be a fantastic mother. I hope so too, she whispered, and she cantered away towards the old chestnut tree.

Meanwhile, beyond Sheldon valley, not far from Parchment creek, Cara is not well, she has been ill for a better part of the week and is now starting to worry for her little one. Slowly she stoops to get a drink of water from the hole in the ice covered creek. Today the pains are much stronger, as she makes her way back to the lush thick grass beneath the magnificent trees. Here she rests awhile and prays that all is well for her young one whom she is having trouble to birth. The wind has started to pick up and the sound of thunder could be heard in the distance.

How are you feeling? inquires Amethyst.

The pains are much closer, I’m sure it won’t be too long now! groaned Cara

Kagan who had spent a better part of the day with Cara, asks Are you sure we can’t help? You don’t look too good Cara. I’m going to fetch Dyami He’ll know what to do! And off he flew in search of Dyami.

Kagan searched high and low. About an hour or so later, he spotted Dyami who was sitting on the limb of the old chestnut tree with Chesna standing below. Chesna and Dyami listened as the wind whistled through the leaves. Once in awhile they could hear the old branches creek and crack as the gentle rain fell to the ground. My heart aches so much, I don’t understand why I lost my little one? cried the serene mare. It is a great lost you are suffering Chesna the time was not right for you to bring forth a foal and it is for this reason that he did not survive. Be at peace, for your son now lives with the great Spirit. Pray, the Great Spirit will listen, if you ask for his blessing he will grant you peace. said the
