If music be the food of love; well, I'll gnaw the meat off my trombone. What the bard meant to say was that food is the music of love. Love and food can come in excess, can keep you alive, can starve you with its absence and leave you to die you when the juice dries out. Love plus food is the symphony of life. Food – what a joy it is. You can deal with hunger alone but like love, it has no ecstasy until shared. Flavor, texture, anticipation and fulfilment are the elements of love, music, lust and food.

Welcome to Seduction of Taste. This a companion book to my romance novel Seduction of Dynasty. The story is of an all action girl cop of very healthy appetites. She holds nothing back. Her life of fighting crime and making love needs fuel. When she meets a sexy aristocrat she dines in splendor in the company of royals. When she locks up crooks she dines on joyful big taste power-food in police canteens. She nibbles fancy cakes and delicate sandwiches while taking English tea. She savors Mediterranean sea-food and pasta at a palazzo in Venice. And of course, she shares everything with her man.

As I wrote the book I began to realize the extent to which food was involved in the narrative. As in everyday business, many discussions and decisions arise from meetings over a meal. Even more I began to see how much the richness and variety of the food reflected the searching passion of Shannon's life. I also have to admit that my own love of food and cooking sometimes took over my pen, tempting me to add a few gratuitous flourishes to the text. I can never resist that extra strawberry or prawn garnish. Savory or sweet, I always have to taste just a little more. Ah well, never trust a skinny cook.
