    INTRODUCTION

Throughout my life I have encountered many women (mothers) who were and are mad with men. Their embittered feelings resulted from either being mistreated by men or the desertion of responsibility especially in the parenting area. So over the years, this anger has bred an independence from men. When it comes to the children, specifically boys, they have said things like, I don’t need a man to teach my son(s) how to be a man. Women can teach boys how to be men! My first response would be, YOU may not need a man but your SON does! So I would ask them, Can men teach girls how to be women? Their response would most times be NO! After taking a look, I began to understand why women felt this way.

Because the father of the child (boy) left the family, (for whatever reason death, divorce etc.) the awesome responsibility of raising the boy was thrown in the mother’s lap. This situation leaves the mother with no choice but to try to raise her son(s) into manhood which she is not equipped for. So when the boy(s) turn out fine (in the sense that the boy has become a man so to speak), they (women) attribute it to they’re training. Unfortunately for them (mothers) this is not entirely true. This has become a major problem not only in inner cities, but also in society as a whole. While I pondered on this, I felt in my heart to write a book to explain the part a woman plays in helping the boy become a man from a man’s perspective.

    CHAPTER ONE

    Like it or NOT

Have you ever noticed only women feel they are able to teach boys how to be men but you hardly ever hear men say they can teach girls how to be women? No man in his RIGHT mind would ever say this or even attempt such a feat. Why? The reason a man would not say this is because he knows within himself he does NOT possess the information, understanding or the ability to handle such a task. In addition, real men do not want to be associated with being feminine. Heck, we barely know ourselves as men so how or why would we even attempt such a thing?

I remember growing up with my sister and how she and my mother would get into these conversations and I would just say to myself, "What in the world are you
