About this ebook
My poetry covers things from personal feelings, to family, nature, God and Mystery (In mystery I mean arousing curiosity). I want to make a difference in our world. I dont expect to be famous but I would like people recognize or have heard of my poetry. If it can only make a small difference, I will feel as though I did something with my life.
Diane Hicks White
I am an unknown author who has always enjoyed writing, especially poetry. Poetry fills me with so many emotions from happy to sad. I don’t write for the money it may involve. I want to have people enjoy my poetry for themselves and find meaning in my poetry for themselves. The enjoyment comes from the people I can touch with my words. I am just an ordinary person with an ordinary life. In my poems I speak from the heart. I fill my poems with emotions. I have a wonderful family of twenty-two years and three wonderful children; Joshua Thirty, Amy Twenty-one and Benjamin nineteen year old. They have given me strength during moments in my life in which I felt desperate. Depression has been one of my weaknesses that I am trying to conquer. I have learned to express those weaknesses through my words and I am given a good look at myself. Without my family and my God I wouldn’t be here today, sharing myself with all who read this story. My personality is not an exuberant one. I am rather shy and I think my shyness drives my poetry. I always look to people like myself and wonder what I feel and think. Can I show them hope? Do they have to remain hidden from others who show an enthusiasm for life? Being someone who holds in emotions for the most part, I have a heart that burns for freedom, a freedom of emotional awareness and expression. My poetry covers things from personal feelings, to family, nature, God and Mystery (In mystery I mean arousing curiosity). I want to make a difference in our world. I don’t expect to be famous but I would like people recognize or have heard of my poetry. If it can only make a small difference, I will feel as though I did something with my life.

Images of Reality - Diane Hicks White
Miracles of Life
Upon each day we awaken, is a miracle
Look upon a flower, its beauty, its aroma
Look upon the evening sky with the setting sun
Stare up to the mountains, to their giant celestial beauty
To the forest abundant with life, thriving daily
To the oceans, their waves, hitting the shore
So many things are miracles of life
Thank our God, the one, the creator
Thank you Lord for each day, a miracle
A Crisis
3/8/05
We all have crises in our lives
There are those of us that seek help
There are those who abandon themselves
We ask, Who is the stronger?
The one seeking help or the one giving up
Can we see it from another view?
We are told the strong seek help
The weak give up and say farewell
The Lord is there for the weak and the strong
Seek him we must, ask help of him we must
He is waiting to be asked, and answer he shall
He will fill our heart and soul with his strength
The energy to carry on no matter what happens
And thank him we must for each day we are given
A crisis does not have to end in crises
It can be overcome with the strength of God
An obstacle that no longer impedes our decisions
Complain We Do
3/1/05
This is a winter we won’t forget
Too much snow, we do regret
Snow is fine, if not too much
Cumbersome and fun it can be
Freshly fallen its beauty truly bestowed
So white and pristine doth the sun reflect
Memories of winters past, remembered so
Anticipate winters to come again
Complain we do of winters too cold
Complain we do of summers too hot
Complain it seems is what we do best
Compliments
3/3/05
How are most compliments taken?
It is like we do not want to awaken
We want to believe them, but cannot
Insecure, low self esteem have we a spot
Turn your thoughts around
Do not let yourself go aground
Accept the compliment completely
Be not submissive towards it, obliquely
Fill yourself with some pride
Do not just take it in stride
Compliments are meant to help you beam
Like a kettle of water releasing its steam
Is There Such a Thing
3/29/05
Is there such a thing as spring?
In New England I wonder
Beyond March and still cold
Snow on the ground bringing spring asunder
When oh when will spring bloom again
Or this year, do we skip into summer
The sun it is out high in the sky
Us New Englanders it keeps from a sigh
Strong, hearty, and free are we
The snow soon will lift and the daffodils spree
Isolation
3/11/05
Desperate choice is isolation
It brings upon depression, it feeds upon itself
Everyone, everything needs another
Without another we cannot survive
Stave off the company we mustn’t
As seeds need the soil, rain from the sky
So we need people, a hand to help
The cycle of life must continue
Watch and view the continuity of life
How it flows like the rivers and the oceans
And so seek out a friend, a companion
Do not remain like an abandoned ship
Rotting away; on the ocean floor
God is there, he will help
All you must do is plead your request
That closed in box will burst open
As a gift, being unwrapped
Overcoming Obstacles
6/30/2004
Many obstacles block our way in life
Like a giant fence
Does it keep us in or does it keep us out
Or it can be many barriers of different sorts
To overcome them we must, but how
With our mind obstacles can keep us blind
Thinking of ways to get through them we do
Try against all odds we do
No giving up will we allow
Sooner or later we may break through
Is there light on the other side?
Our mind is opened to all things
We are no longer confined or restricted
Before these obstacles took control
Never will obstacles impede our way again
Watson, an Inspiration
3/10/05
Watson, a friend with a debilitating disease
It cripples him in things we do daily
Handicapped yes, but so strong inside
He lets nothing oppose him
Attends school to learn with accomplishment
The more he engages in learning,
The more he struggles to succeed
He is an inspiration for many
If I could have his inner stability
The obstacles I could overcome
It would be as a miracle
Each day I arise, I think of Watson
Learn beside him I will,
Arise to the challenge does he
We All Need
3/1/05
We all need a respite at times
A rest among the internal storms
Things can become too overwhelming
Sometimes it’s just talking to a friend
Or being comforted by a loved one
Sometimes its solitude for your thoughts
Tears can flow and loosen the burden
Hold them back we mustn’t
For the pain and fear become tenuous
Like moss glued to a stone
They keep us down and hurting
Shed the overwhelming layer, we must
Let our mind burst free to see
To see all those willing to help
Keep heed and let the emotions flow
Soon the respite is needed no longer
Back to ourselves are we
Ready for another day to trek
I Beseech Thee
2/14/05
I am reaching out to the one
I beseech thee to take my hand
To guide me through this humanity
Daily have we many new trials
We cringe in fear, asking thy help
You will take our hand
And we shall not fear life any longer
A Home
2/26/05
Take a journey through a home
It’s a special place
To those who live within
A warm cozy place in which to feel
