About this ebook

This book is meant to inspire, inform and enlighten you through scriptures from the Bible, Kings James Version, famous quotes, one liners and short poems. The focus of this book is on everything positive. Such as, Psalms 118:8 is the center verse in the Bible, which says, It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man." This verse says something significant about God. He had to be in the center of it and should be the center of our lives. There are notable quotes such as, "Peace demands the united efforts of all of us", by Haile Selassie, and one liners like, there is absolutely nothing wrong with me; God doesnt make mistakes.

This is a little book of wisdom. It could be used as a reference book. It is formatted in alphabetical order with an index for easy access. Good, quick and easy reading. A book that you would read over and over again.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom:

and with all thy getting get understanding.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

No one writes a book alone. It has all been said or done before. This book contains quotes, scriptures from the King James Version, one liners, verses and tidbits. Some of these thoughts are mine, some I have heard all through the years growing up, some from notes taken while in the many classes, seminars or sermons I attended and sources long ago forgotten. I acknowledge the enormous contributions others have made to brighten my life by sharing their thoughts. I hope the contents of this book can do the same for someone else as it is passed on to others.

That which hath been is now; and that which is to

be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

    Ecclesiastes 3:15

    Dedications

This book is dedicated to my husband, William, to whom I recently married, my children Regina, Eric and Traci, my grandchildren, Flora, Cassandra, Erica, Duane, Jasmine, Eric, and Taylor, three great grandchildren, my seven siblings, and especially my dad, Charlie W. Griffin, Sr., who has always been my inspiration. I can not forget Annie Wright, Coordinator of The Elizabeth Baptist Church Golden Years Ministry (GYM) who made up the slogan Never Too Old To Grow for our ministry.

From the fullness of His grace we have all received one

    blessing after another.

    John 1:16

    Preface

My dad, who was an avid collector of poems, writings and articles, inspired me. He kept all those papers in a drawer in his bedroom. I loved to ramble through that drawer and read all those papers. When I graduated high school and moved to New Jersey, he kept me abreast of special poems, letters, articles or anything that he found interesting.

I started reminiscing on all that good positive information my dad use to give me and realized that there was a lot that I had forgotten and still much that I still did not know. There are still a lot of life’s lessons that I have to learn and are still being revealed to me each day.

I learned some important lessons through my reading and research. Lesson one, to be more flexible in order to see life from a different perspective. Lesson #2, to always remember that change is the only constant thing in our lives, and lesson #3, you are never too old to grow!

The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took,

and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown,

it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air

come and lodge in the branches thereof.

    Matthew 13:31-32

    (Fight the Feeling!)

Be not hasty to be angry, for anger restest

    in the heart of fools.

    Ecclesiastes 7:9

A soft answer turns away raft.

    Proverbs 15:1

    ********************

It is better to swallow your pride than to eat your words.

Control your temper, because anger causes mistakes.

To get out of a hard situation try a soft answer.

Anger is not the problem. What you do with it is.

Open rebuke is better than hidden love.

To get rid of the weeds of anger, dig out the bitter roots.

Do not let the sun go down on your anger.

    Unknown (all familiar quotes)

    Angry? Fight back with tack.

    Carolyn T. Boone

You have more control over anger than jealousy,

which is more dangerous and cruel.

    Carolyn T. Boone

When you bury the hatchet do not leave the head sticking out.

    Chinese Proverb

When in a conflict remember to always fight fair.

    Carolyn T. Boone

    Assertiveness

    Assert - Declare, state, support.

    (Express yourself!)

And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his

mouth and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth,

and will teach you what ye shall do.

    Exodus 4:15

My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my

    heart shall be of understanding.

    Psalms 49:3

Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening

of my lips shall be right things.

    Proverbs 8:6

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence,

    and a time to speak;

    Ecclesiastes 3:7

    ********************

Not letting others know your thoughts and feelings is as selfish as

    ignoring their thoughts and feelings.

Never give up your rights; that teaches others to take advantage of you

and causes you to lose your self-esteem.

Being assertive shows respect to others by letting them know where you

    Stand.

Always show respect for your own feelings; you will feel better about

    yourself.

The best way to gain respect from others is to stand up for yourself

and let your feelings be known.

Speak up when someone invaders your boundaries.

Never go against your values or rights to please others.

    Carolyn T. Boone

    (All my thoughts and feelings)

    Attitude

Conduct - Behavior, the way one acts.

    (Need an adjustment?)

A merry heart does good, like medicine.

    Proverbs 17:22

Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves

valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the

LORD do that which is good in his sight.

    1 Chronicles 19:13

I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou

come unto me? I will walk within my house with
