The New Covenant Cookbook - Don Madzey
Preface
The idea for The New Covenant Cookbook came from the Holy Spirit through my wife, Stacey. She woke up one morning and said she had a dream of a cookbook. She could not figure out why she had the dream, but she believed in her heart that it was coming from God. We started brainstorming together to try to understand what God was trying to tell her.
Just some background information: Our only son, Mason, was diagnosed with cancer (evil!) during the summer of 2018. Since then, our eyes have opened, and the power of God has begun to manifest in our lives. I have had visions, thoughts, feelings, and ideas. My wife has heard things and felt things, and our son, Mason, told us of an experience he had where he felt God spoke to him from his heart, telling him the tumor would never come back. Some pretty amazing things have come out of a tragic event in our lives (Romans 8:28). The devil came to seek, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give life and life to the fullest (John 10:10).
After brainstorming, we had no idea of what this dream meant. Later that night, I was lying down thinking about it, and the idea for this book came across me, and it hit me: The New Covenant Cookbook: Spiritual Recipes for Everyday Life. This was the Holy Spirit speaking to me. I told my wife about my revelation, and we were immediately on the same page, and I began to write that night.
The New Covenant Cookbook
How does it work? The book is set up like a typical cookbook. There are sixty recipes
that deal with life and how to use the Word of God to conquer your everyday life decisions, along with some Old Testament flavors and specials of the day that will help as well. There are recipes on love, praise, burdens, relationships, and so on. If you are struggling with a positive attitude, there is a recipe to help you develop a better attitude by using Scripture and meditation. If you are struggling with anger, there is a recipe to show you the importance of staying calm and walking in love by using Scripture and meditation. For the book to work, you need to understand four verses from the Bible and the power that these verses have.
Verse one: Every scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing mistakes, for correcting, and for training character
(2 Timothy 3:16). All Scripture is God-breathed. When you read the ingredients for each recipe, you must always keep in mind that every word you read is God-breathed, and it has true power when you get it deep down into your spirit. Take the ingredients listed and use them so you can start seeing changes for the good in your life in a particular area that needs work.
Verse two: And every defense that is raised up to oppose the knowledge of God. They capture every thought to make it obedient to Christ
(2 Corinthians 10:5). This world tries to flush God out of the equation. We as humans look for answers for everything, and in doing this, we forget that God is the answer to all our problems and that He has given us solutions to all our problems somewhere between Genesis and Revelations. We need to defend God in this world and always live by what the Word says, not by what the world says.
Verse three: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness
(Galatians 5:22). You will see this verse often mentioned in this book. As you live your life, you will witness a lot of people living opposite to what the Word tells us to do. This is a verse that you need to meditate on every day, and when someone is hateful towards you, remember that you need to stay in the fruit of the Spirit and be a true example of what God’s love is.
Verse four: Because God’s word is living, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword. It penetrates to the point that it separates the soul from the spirit and the joints from the marrow. It’s able to judge the heart’s thoughts and intentions
(Hebrews 4:12). Wow! This verse really makes this book powerful. The Word of God is alive and active. If you want to become more patient in life, you need to find the Word of God that speaks about patience and meditate on it and live by it. That Word will become alive and active in your life, and it will get into your soul, spirit, and body and create the result that you are looking for. Believe it!
After you have truly understood these four verses and have meditated on them, you will begin to see awesome results in your life. God’s Word is powerful and effective, and it will change your life once you understand that it is alive and active. Always remember that we have a part to play in everything! Okay. Now it is time to get busy with some awesome recipes so you can change your life for the better. Don’t be afraid to add some different ingredients to each of the recipes because each recipe can be adjusted according to the person eating the spiritual food. Just remember that your grocery store is the Bible and the Bible only. Have faith and believe, and amazing things will happen in your life. Amen!
Reminder: This is not a quick-read book. If you are working on anger, focus on that one recipe and add other ingredients from the Bible and trust God; then, the anger in your life will lessen, and love will take over. Always remember to read the four verses in the preface as you focus on any issue you are trying to fix in your life. Trust the process, and God will do the rest. Amen!
Appetizers
Good Decisions on a Stick
You are going to make thousands of decisions daily. Decisions, decisions, decisions. How do you know if you are making the right ones? What should I do today? Should I go to the party? Do I really need to study for that test? Should I flip out on the next person who does me wrong? If you would like to get good answers to these questions, then you need to try this awesome appetizer, Good Decisions on a Stick. Once you take your first bite of this awesome appetizer, your decision-making skills will become supernatural.
Ingredients
4 chunks of 1 Corinthians 10:31: So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
3 pieces of Philippians 4:8: Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything, worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
2 thick cuts of James 1:5: If any of you lacks wisdom let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
1 piece of John 5:30: I can do nothing on my own.
How to Use the Ingredients
First, it really doesn’t matter how big or how small the decision is; if it lines up with the Bible, it will be the right one. Next, you can use Philippians 4:8 as a true guide for good decision-making. When you are about to decide, you can refer to the questions from this verse, and if you can answer yes to all the questions, this is a wise decision. If at any time you feel like you are lacking in wisdom and knowledge, turn to the Bible and read! The more you read, the more powerful the Bible becomes in your life, and you will start to understand the supernatural world a little bit better. Lastly, remember that you can not do anything on your own. If you think you can, the devil will chew you up and spit you out! Submit to God, resist the devil, and he will get out of dodge!
For full enjoyment, read the ingredients over and over and commit them to your heart. Mix all the ingredients with faith, and the Word will become alive and active in your life.
For a little different taste, you could add a pinch of the Old Covenant Proverbs 3:5–6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
The Spicy Friend for All
Dip
It is hard today to find a good friend. What is a friendship supposed to be like? I have been in education for twenty-four years, and I have seen friends treat each other in ways that a true friend
would never do. I got something for you! This would be the perfect time for you to try the Spicy Friend for All
Dip. One bite of this dip will fill you with all the tools you need to be a good friend to those in need.
Ingredients
1 cup of John 15:13: Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
3 tablespoons of John 15:15: No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his Master is doing, but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
1/2 cup of 1 Thessalonians 5:11: Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
2 tablespoons of Romans 12:15: Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.
How to Use the Ingredients
A true friend will lay their life on the line for another friend. Not only that, but they would also never do anything to hurt their friend physically, mentally, or spiritually. True friends are equals in the eyes of each other. One is not better than the other, and the love is unconditional. When a friend is down, it is your job to encourage and build
