About this ebook

Peace is promised in the Bible many times. As a matter of fact, peace is mentioned in the Bible 431 times. Yet, in these uncertain times, many are living without peace. Sadly, much of that many are Christians.

Isaiah 26:3 says, You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. (NKJV)

Therefore, I believe that peace is attainable and that the key to obtaining peace is A Stayed Mind. In this book, you will find the roadmap to staying your mind and having the peace promised in the Bible. Hallelujah!

    A Stayed Mind

This book is dedicated to my mother

    who tirelessly fought

to give her children a stayed mind.

    For an idle mind is

    the devil’s workshop.

    Mom, I finally get it.

    King James Bible Version

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,

whose mind is stayed on thee:

    because he trusteth in thee."

    ~ Isaiah 26:3 ~

" Fight the good fight of faith,

    lay hold on eternal life,

    whereunto thou art also called,

and hast professed a good profession

    before many witnesses."

    ~ 1 Timothy 6:12 ~

    Foreword

I pray that you have begun this book because you are ready to study the Word of God and make the necessary developments in your personal walk with Him. I have found that life without His instruction and peace is tormenting. On the other hand, life in His presence is fulfilling and full of peace. I pray that you know the power of His presence and peace in your life (if not now) very, very soon.

Of course, any development in life takes work. Babies fall many times before they walk, but they get up and continue trying over and over again. Children work very hard at finding the confidence to ride a bike without training wheels, but they steady themselves for the challenge. Adolescents take the necessary measures to learn to drive, knowing that this skill will further their resources and agility to gain resources for the rest of their lives.

In the same respect, this book is a study manual. It will take your time to read it. You may want to journal your thoughts, feelings and questions as you continue. NOTE: Studying takes an effort. You must read, highlight, memorize key concepts and implement numerous measures in your life by applying wisdom.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. – 2 Timothy 2:15

As I have read books, I have approached them in three diverse ways. Some books are written so eloquently romanticizing each word that I linger at each word and quickly pass each page enjoying the savor of each moment. At times, this book may be that for you. Other books have been written in a manner that was so full I took my time reading it. Some days only one to three pages so that I could ingest and properly digest each factor and make it meat for my life at critical times. This book may be that for you, but I encourage you to take notes, read it all and meditate on key scriptures. Other books I have laid to the side thinking that I was not ready for it or not in the mood. I hope that you will not do that with this book.

Instead, I hope that you will take on the challenge as a babe does when it first eats solid food. The mother prepares the babe as best she can with a bib and puread food. Equipped with a small spoon, the mother gives a small amount to the babe who, at first, tries to figure out how to get the food to the back of its mouth so that it can swallow. You see, this babe is accustomed to a bottle of liquid that immediately flows to the back of the mouth for swallowing. Now, the babe must embrace the challenge of solid foods; just as Christians who must go from the feel-good scriptures (milk of the Word) to the life changing/chastising scriptures (meat of the Word). Let this book be the opportunity you take to dig into the fullness of what God has for you.

"O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him." - Psalm 34:8

Sadly, at one point in my life, I thought I had nothing going for me. I was downtrodden, in despair and depressed. I had grown up listening to a lot of preaching but very little teaching of the Word of God. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t even call myself a baby Christian; I was an embryo.

One day, my mother came to me. She looked at me and said, God is not impressed by your situation. What moves God is faith. Then, she walked out. That is my mother. Her silence is her strength and she loves with truth. I am so thankful for her now more than ever.
