    PREFACE

    The Lord has led me to write this book. I have never attempted to undertake such a task before; but when God touches you to do something, then you must do it. We can rest assured that anything He tells us to do, He will be right there beside us guiding us and giving us direction.

    I praise Him and thank Him for guiding me now, at this stage of my life. I am trusting in Him for His help.

    I don’t know how He will use this book, or His purpose for it, but I do know it will glorify Him. Whatever His will I only know that I have totally surrendered my life to Him to use for His glory.

    As you read this book, please know that it is not I I want you see but our heavenly father. I am no one important to read about but God is.

    I hope the reading of this book will bless you as He has blessed me.

    God bless you,

    Joyce Risinger

    Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed;

    save me, and I shall be saved,

    for thou art my praise.

    CHAPTER 1

    I have heard people say that when a child gets saved, it isn’t the real thing. I cannot disagree more.

    I was eight years old when Jesus touched my heart to accept Him as my Savior. I will never forget that feeling. In my mind’s eye, I can still see that little girl walking down the aisle, going up to the Pastor and saying I want to give my heart to Jesus. I knew exactly what I was doing. I also knew that when you ask Jesus in and you are sincere, He will come in and save you and your life will never be the same as it was.

    Of course, at eight years old, I hadn’t had time to sin much; maybe just fighting with two sisters or disobeying my parents. But I asked God to forgive me. And I know He did.

    I believe that God saved me at such an early age because He knew I would need Him early in my life. He knew I would, at the age of 12, meet the one I was to marry. That’s when I met my wonderful Gil. I knew right away he was the one I wanted to spend my life with. So when I was 17 and he was 20, we became one without ever being on a date. We wrote each other everyday. The mailman said we were keeping the postal service going. After we married, I moved to Cheatham Annex in Williamsburg, Virginia, where Gil was stationed.
