Hawwah Nofeeyah

Born, Faye Eileen Beard, in Harlem, New York, it was clear from an early age that she was a child of great promise.  As a young woman she struggled for a sense of identity in a world that denied the significance of living a life of virtue and spirituality.  Although she demonstrated academic excellence, it never held compelling significance for her.  She could not understand having knowledge void of a higher purpose.  Those around her said knowledge was to be used to gain economic security and prestige but she was never quite convinced.  Instead she found that the pursuit of the Divine and the establishment of a personal relationship with God brought her much joy.  At an early age, her perceptions, views and ideas set her apart.  As she became older, she grew in understanding.  It became clear to her that we all have been given a gift to share in this world and only to the extent that we share it, can it grow, enabling the individual to live purposefully and in self-fulfillment.  Acknowledgement of that truth has inspired Faye, spiritually known as Hawwah Nofeeyah, to be faithful to her calling having been blessed with great spiritual insights and penetrating understandings into the human condition.  In Blessed,  for the first time these insights are shared with the public in the hope that they might serve as inspiration and a source of strength for others who too must find the courage and conviction to act, based on principle; realizing that we all have a voice and must speak out righteously for a world which now struggles for its very existence  and the right to be humane.

Much better than the first 2. She did a nice job of meshing the stories.

The conclusion to Tantalize, with stowaways from Eternal thrown in. A fun ending to the series, loose ends all pretty well tied up.

I was really disappointed in this series. I remember really enjoying Tantalize and sort of enjoying Eternal, so I was excited to see that there was a conclusion to both books out. Well, I'm not sure what I expected, but Blessed wasn't quite it. The resolution is there, but the book took some odd directions and I probably won't be seeking out any more of Smith's work right now.

I probably should have reread the rest of the series before starting this. They give a lot of catchup but not remembering much of anything I still felt kind of lost. There were parts of the book that annoyed me; some super awkward transitions that literally had me rereading sections but overall it was definitely interesting.

In Blessed, the storylines of Tantalize and Eternal meet up. At the end of Eternal, Zachary was assigned as the GA (guardian angel) of Quincie. With Brad apparently gone, Quincie is hurriedly hiring replacement staff, who will also be familiar to those who read the prior books, and seriously missing her best friend Kieren. Especially since his parents are now her legal guardians, meaning she has to stay at their house and hide her condition. Other than that, she just has to figure out what to do about all of the people who ate Brad's baby squirrel dessert and will be turning into vampires themselves any day now.

The storylines coming together is pretty cool. I actually had no idea that these book were a series when I read the first two a couple years ago, or, I knew they were supposed to be and was very confused to find they weren't particularly. The world that Smith created still strikes me as an interesting one, although I still wish her characters could be a little more interesting.

Quincie bothered me the slightest bit less, but mostly only because I was prepared for her annoying-ness. Her new obnoxious trait is complaining about the words people use, but not being smart enough to come up with a replacement of her own. Oy. Anyway, Kieren I still like, as much as one can, considering that he doesn't get much screen time or depth in his personality. Zachary is a bit less cool in this one, since he's trying to be good again. Miranda's gone and I didn't miss her, but I sure could have done without the constant missing of her.

I want to talk a little bit about the restaurant that Quincie owns. Sanguini's: A Very Rare Restaurant has a vampire theme. This makes for some humorous jokes and doesn't seem like something to be taken seriously. However, the restaurant does really well. What I want to know is why? The menus are completely nauseating. Note the baby squirrel dessert from the menu above. Another food featured is crickets. Why?!?

Smith decided to end this volume with a slightly happier note. This actually struck me as a bit forced; the ending seemed to wrap up to nicely, and not entirely realistically. Of course, maybe Smith is saving the real emotion punch for the end of Diabolical.

If you’re a fan of gothic fantasy and paranormal romance, you should sink your teeth into Cynthia Leitich Smith’s newest book Blessed, a young adult thriller filled with brooding shapeshifters and night crawlers set in Austin. The third installment in a gothic triology, the story revolves around Quincy Morris, an orphaned teenager who’s struggling to keep her parent’s vampire-themed restaurant afloat while saving Central Texas from a legion of rogue vampires. While fighting off blood-sucking fiends, Quincy must keep her new thirst for blood at bay, salvage her soul and clear her best bud and soul mate –a hot-blooded werewolf cross-breed – of murder charges. Wow – and I thought my high school days were hellish!Adding a unique spin on the ever-evolving vampire genre, she gives readers exactly what they want: fast-paced thrill rides filled with vampire lore, preternatural bad boys and steamy romance. If you haven’t read the first two books in the series, Tantalize or Eternal, you’re in for a treat!

Quincie P. Morris, teen restaurateuse and neophyte vampire, is in the fight of her life -- or undeath. Even as she adjusts to her new appetites, she must clear her best friend and true love, the hybrid werewolf Kieren, of murder charges; thwart the apocalyptic ambitions of Bradley Sanguini, the seductive vampire-chef who "blessed" her; and keep her dead parents’ restaurant up and running. She hires a more homespun chef and adds the preternaturally beautiful Zachary to her wait staff. But with hundreds of new vampires on the rise and Bradley off assuming the powers of Dracula Prime, Zachary soon reveals his true nature -- and a flaming sword -- and they hit the road to staunch the bloodshed before it’s too late. Even if they save the world, will there be time left to salvage Quincie’s soul? (Synopsis provided by goodreads) *This is the third book and picks up where book 2 left off.I have to say that I simply love the premise of this series. I love Quincie's character and we get to see her character develop throughout the book. Smith paints a vivid picture in her word building and her the way she shapes her characters. All of the relationships felt believable and I never felt like they were forced. The dialog is strong and Smith isn't afraid to show that her characters have flaws, which is really refreshing as there are a lot of books where I feel you have to search for the characters flaws.I am very excited to see what comes next! I would recommend this book and this series to anyone who likes paranormal books! * Hardcover: 480 pages * Publisher: Candlewick; 1 edition (January 25, 2011) * Author: Cynthia Leitich Smith * Cover Art: Best yet! * Overall rating: **** out of 5 stars * Obtained: From the publisher for an honest review.

In this third installment of the Tantalize series we are back in Austin with Quincie, our reluctant vampire and teenaged restraunteur. Zachary the guardian angel has been reassigned to Quince now that Miranda has died. It is Zach’s hope, and new assignment, to get neophyte vamps/Eternals to redeem themselves and return to Heaven’s fold.Quince has other plans. She needs to get Sanguini’s up and running and she also needs to figure out a way to save all the people who unwittingly consumed Bradley’s blood and will be turning into vamps without their consent or knowledge. Nora and Freddy also turn up in Austin to help Zachary.I have to admit that I didn’t get the purpose of the second book until the ending when Miranda died and Zachary was given his new assignment. Now in this book we were back at Sanguini’s, and the storyline I prefer. Since Quince has no legal guardian, Kieran’s parents have stepped in and taken on that role…which makes things very difficult for Quincie. She has to hide her vampire side from the only family she has left. Quincie is in nothing but tough situations all throughout this book. But being the tough girl that she is, she is able to rise to each occasion and handle it in a way that is wise beyond her years. I was pleased to see Zach show up. His character is different in that his future hangs in the balance as well. Having disobeyed his supervisor many times, he is earthbound but has regained some of his angelic qualities…but not all of them, and there is a very real chance he could end up kicked out of Heaven entirely. He still can’t return to the ethereal plane and see his beloved Miranda. But Zach and Quince become very close, sibling-like close. I thought once Q saw Zach, she might forget Kieran, but I need not have worried. Together Q and Zach work well together as their individual “quests” become one.Smith took a tremendous amount of inspiration from Bram Stoker for this series. And she does illustrate that fact in a number of ways. I do love to see how authors find their inspiration and then what they do with it. With the fourth, and seemingly final, book in this series recently released I am curious to see what Smith may do in the future. Will she take off in another direction entirely? Will she use another classic novel has an inspirations? Time will tell.

About the Author

In the ancient Hebraic tongue of our ancestors, I give praise to my Abba.  Halleluyah!

This work is first and foremost a testimony of my walk with YHWH and His Only Begotten Son Yahoshua Ha Meshiach.  It is written for His children, who find themselves buried amongst the nations, in the land of their captivity.  It is a work to encourage, inspire, and renew that remnant of a remnant who are still able to hear His Voice, and who still aspire to do His Will, His Way.

Of Times and Seasons…

Those who have embarked upon this long and winding road know that there are times and seasons that we must go through as we walk in search of truth. Time after time after time, we traverse, beyond the difficulties, in spite of the difficulties and through the difficulties of aspiring to live an upright life in view of the teachings of The Messiah. We keep searching for the truth that is able to set us free.  We have a great need for the peace that passes all understanding.

From a Western perspective, time is linear proceeding forth in a straight line on into eternity from one point to the next point, never touching each other.  From a far more holistic and ancient perspective, it is known that time is cyclical, a circle unbroken, time connected from one point to the next, establishing continuity.  When we can locate ourselves in the midst of that never ending continuum and know our purpose, then we can fulfill our reason for being; our purpose.  YHWH establishes both us and our reason for being.  If we look with our natural eyes, we will miss what can only be seen with the eyes of the Spirit. From whence we begin, we must return to right the wrong or do the thing which we left undone.  Through raging storms and rocky roads, shaky grounds and sinking sands we must find the truth that establishes our right relationship with our Heavenly Father and walk in it.  As it was in the beginning so shall it be in the end.

This is the season in which we find ourselves; a season of purging, a season of putting childish things away that we may become strong men and women of YHWH.  It is a time of restoration for those with the courage to do it on His terms and in His way.  Like a puzzle, we must piece together the parts that create the whole and like walking through a maze, we must find our way home.  We must make choices that reflect our understanding, our growth; our evolution,   As we have approached what Western Christian theology has termed, the end times, I the author in writing this book have taken it upon myself to restore to this scriptural and spiritual writing, the ancient Hebraic Names that were used in the beginning before Christianity was named the official state religion and became infused with paganism and European terminologies. A small act like that, has the power to make a difference. To do otherwise is to do a disservice to our ancestors; those who have gone on before us.  YHWH made a covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; the Covenant remains unbroken.  For this reason, the author has chosen to use the Tetragrammaton, the four Hebrew letters that were revealed to our Hebrew ancestors in the ancient language of the bible as Yod-Hay-Waw-Hay; YHWH.  I also use the term Elohim (El) which in some circles has caused much controversy.  Here I use El, a Hebrew term meaning Strong One, an abbreviated version of Elohim which means Almighty Creator.  Likewise, Jesus Christ (Greek and a variation of Ea-Zeus, the healing God) has been replaced by its original Hebraic Name, Yahoshua Ha Meshiach.  Due to the many tribal dialects, you have many variations of pronunciations of this Name and each individual using those names would argue that they are more right than the other. Let YHWH be your guide. In this work, I have been inspired to use the Name pronounced as Yahoshua (Yah-Ho-Shuah) so I have done so.  The inclination was to edit this work but upon doing so, realized that it also altered the work and left a void in the inspiration of the message.  Thus I restored the work back to its original state.  I wrote it as I heard it, in prayer and in His Presence because I had the revelation that it is something to be in a real time experience with YHWH through His work. For many, it is novel to strive to see with the eyes of the Spirit and understand from a spiritual perspective but for those who desire to see His Kingdom established, they must begin doing just that.

May this work be a daily inspiration, again and again which renews your commitment and your capacity to grow in Him. As you go through your day, as situations arise and subside, may you go back and connect with that fresh anointing which not only enables you to stand on His Word but to walk and be governed by it.  May the blessings of YHWH keep you and bless you and your cup runneth over.

*A special thanks to my friends, Ethel and Michele-Everyone should be so blessed as to have friends like you.

Welcome! You have just opened a book where the blessings of The Most High do abide.  As you enter, beware…You are called to a holy convocation.  You have entered a sanctuary, a place of refuge where the blessings of The Anointed One are bountiful, where you can partake and feast on the Spirit of His Word.  Come in and be blessed!  Forget about your problems.  Leave all negative thoughts at the door.  Come with a positive state of mind, a hopeful and optimistic belief in the possibilities of what can be.  You have come to spend some time alone with Him in surrender and contemplation.  He whose mind is stayed on Me is kept in perfect peace, says YHWH.  Relinquish all thoughts of the world and come and sup with Me, Who is able to give you the peace that passes all understanding.

Come to know Him as the Presence that resides within your soul.  Beyond the rhetoric, beyond the dogma and doctrine, there He sits awaiting you.  Sit at the feet of The Master and partake of His wondrous ways and His Words where wisdom can be found.

Within these pages, His wisdom abides.  Remain!  Our wisdom is as foolishness to Him but His wisdom is invaluable to us.  It’s not to be compared to silver or gold.  It is so much more precious.

On the next page I have written a few words about wisdom that have been extracted from the Book of Proverbs.  Read.  It is a reminder to those who have forgotten how necessary His wisdom is in our walk with Him.

May this work enable you to get a clearer vision of His purpose for your life; your life’s purpose.  The Word says, Without a vision, My People perish.  May the vision for your life continue to unfold with clarity as His Anointed Word breaks the bonds of wickedness, undo every heavy burden and let the oppressed go free?"

May His inspiration envelop you during these perilous times, the

times that try the souls of men? As you embrace His Holy Spirit, may it cause you to press on toward the goal of a life governed by Him and may you find your way home.  He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek after Him.  Continue to seek Him and be blessed in your endeavors. Be refreshed in your knowing that He is… (with you).

YHWH Shalom

WISDOM

My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding. If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of YHWH and find the knowledge of YHWH. For YHWH gives wisdom, From His mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, and preserves the way of His righteous ones.

Prov. 2:1-8

When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil.

Prov. 2:10-11

Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her.

Prov. 3:13-18

YHWH by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding, He established the heavens; by His knowledge, the depths were broken up, and clouds drop down the dew. My son let them not depart from your eyes- Keep sound wisdom and
