About this ebook

Our walk with God is a never-ending journey with obstacles, pitfalls, mountains to be moved, walls to be engaged, ups, downs, turnarounds, and many other things that if we walk blindly we may run into troubles, problems, and hardships, which are the schools of hard knocks. I Refuse To Be... is a book of incidents happening in the life of Lacy Green Jr. while growing up in a country town in the South during his early life. Based on true events and experiences with God as well as with people. Life is mixed with a lot of flavors that are the seasonings for God's word. If we seek him, we become truth seekers, for God is not the author of confusion. So taste and see that the Lord is good; nothing missing or lacking. I Refuse To Be... is a humorous, exciting, and dramatic adventure of how the spirit of God worked in the choices that were made in Lacy's life, good and bad, bringing truth to Romans 8:28: "And we know that all thing work together for good to them that love God to them who are the called according to his purpose." You'll find all you need at his table. A real quick moving inspirational work of core belief, family interactions, and personal adventures. Guaranteed to make you laugh, cry, question, and think because real life with God takes place outside of the box that society has placed him in, and when we come to the knowledge that he is greater, you will refuse to be anything less than the best God has ordained in your destiny. God is in you. Don't be placed in a bondage to what or who people say you are. Listen to God and allow him to make a masterpiece out of you.

Poems That Are Like Streams to My Soul

I dedicate this little book to my mother and father, my loving parents, Lacy Green Sr. and Evangelist Willina Smutherman Green, who struggled day and night raising us the right way. Leading us to the Lord early in life so we could truly understand the truth. I also dedicate the pages of this to my sisters and brothers who are the core of my heart, all my friends and neighbors, and my spiritual father Pastor Johnny O. Coe, who have made deposits into my life and to whom I esteem more highly than myself.

The late Rev. Glover, Rev. Davis, great friends and pastors. Who will always be within me as such. Rev. Larry Mc Callum, Mother Page, Mother Emma Mc Bride who cradled me when I was a child. Pastor E. Goings.

A lifelong friend, of course, Rev. Bishop Julius McAllister, former dean of the board of examiners AME, Florence, SC, and all of my friends and teachers there. Bishop O. T. Johnson, the late Pastor Hooper and Pastor Eddie Mayner.

Minister Don Cooper, Pastor Franklin Myers, all of my friends I’ve had the privilege to be ordained with, and the elders that I’ve had the joy of serving with. Rev. Thelma Mack, Rev. Eugene Dunson, Evangelist Letha Mae Bunkum, and then some new to the ministry: Rev. Glen McClellen and Rev. Eva Smith. And my new friend Pastor John Whittfield who is the watcher over my soul now. And honoring all my ministers, officers, saints, and friends of Love And Joy Christian Center.

These are just a few of the people I owe so much to. But most of all, this is to my wife, Emma Lee Taylor Green, who has stood by me through thick and thin. This journey with her has been amazing to me. Thank you all.

    Acknowledgments

When God inspired me to write this book, I called on all my memories of the past, good and bad, happy and sad, because through it he would help somebody out there to maybe understand that this journey is for real and your purpose is for real. The calling of the royal priesthood is nay. I’ve had many special people in my life who have made so many deposits preparing me for what was ahead. They are so valuable to me because of the knowledge and wisdom they have shared during our conversations, our studies, and in our messages from the pulpit.

I am thankful to God for placing them in my life at the appropriate season, and for the harvest that his kingdom will birth forth. My friends, I love and cherish our journey together. May God’s blessings now manifesting in your ministry continue, and all of your household prosper.

    Preface

What is it that you refuse to be?

Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. God has given every man the measure of faith, but to build it up, you must have events in your life that will allow the development of strength so the individual becomes stronger in the faith. Faith without works is dead, so you got to work your faith. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of God over and over again and again until it permeates into your very spirit. Learn to call the things that are not as though they were. Use that godly kind of faith, and whatever you asks in Yeshuah’s name will be yours. So refuse to be what you are not.

How is it that we as human beings have similar life experiences, but we make so many different choices. In the pages of this little book, I show some of the events that happened in my journey thus far and how my decisions were affected by situations and where I was in the Lord at the time. Sometimes out of position to be blessed. Sometimes out of God’s will, and sometimes without the proper direction.

Refuse to be, as the evil one is! Realize that he is real, and Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. The only begotten of the Father God Almighty. Who came that we may have life and have it more abundantly. Refuse to be as hardheaded as I was seeking fame and fortune when I needed only to seek the kingdom of God, for everything else would have been added as it has been now.

Can a man make his way back from a road of destruction? Can he change his mind, his life, his direction?

Join me through the pages of this book. You will laugh, cry, be strengthened and ready to return to the battlefield.

    A Loser

Hello, my friends, I would like to give you a greeting in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Son of the Most High God, in whom we have the right to say Abba, Father and Father of all creation. I hope that the pages you are about to read give you an empowerment, a revelation, insight, relief, a breakthrough and increase you in your laughter and moral fiber. There is a shifting in the atmosphere, and the power and will of God is manifesting itself right now.

He is the very fiber of my being and the essence of my soul. I know Him. He is my all in
