Introduction
For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.
- Jeremiah 29:11 (AMP)
Have you ever wondered why am I here? What is my purpose in life? Do I even have a purpose or was I just meant to exist, live, and then die? Believe it or not, we all have a purpose in life and every experience or moment is tied to that purpose. What I did not know is on the path of discovery to purpose, hidden things would begin to surface. These were things I really did not want to deal with, let alone talk about it. But God will not allow us to stay in a place of obscurity, as our story is not our own. It is about freeing someone else from a place of brokenness.
So often we have our own thoughts and plans for our lives, not realizing the Creator of all things has mapped out plans for us all along. But many of us go throughout our life’s journey assuming we know what we want our outcome to be in life. The reality of that thought process is that it is unfortunately based upon certain moments or events that made lasting impressions in our hearts and shaped the way we think about ourselves, people, and life as a whole. However, when we discover there have been recurring cycles or instances that paralyzed us, and even hindered us from reaching our full potential or experiencing the fullness of joy and peace, it is at that moment we will begin to embrace all that He has for us. It is at that moment that we fully grasp Romans 8:28 as it says, We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.
(Amplified Classic Version)
When we come to a complete understanding that we are called according to His design and His purpose, then we can rest inwardly knowing the outcome will be great. It is at that moment that the raging river of inner turmoil can cease, and we can begin to flow in the current of God’s Holy Spirit. We can then be consumed by an inward peace that will surpass our understanding and truly enjoy the journey to purpose.
The purpose of this book is to encourage those of you who may have experienced life-altering events, tragedy, devastation, and hurt beyond articulation, that regardless of the situation, and whatever has happened, know you are still destined for a divine purpose. In sharing pieces of my journey, my heart’s desire is that this book provokes something in you to open up and receive the healing power of God. For it is only through His healing power that you can discover your life has been predestined by God for greatness. In spite of what the enemy meant for evil, God knew the plans He had, and it all works out for your good. Let this book encourage you to get up, live, and start your journey to discovering your true purpose in life……lives are waiting on you.
CHAPTER 1
Beneath the Surface
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it?
- Jeremiah 17:9 (NKJV)
Have you ever wondered why you do what you do? Why do you overreact or respond negatively or have a pessimistic outlook? Have you ever asked yourself, What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I ever finish what I started? Why do certain situations or challenges affect me this way? Why do certain things cause me to have sleepless nights? Why do I draw the same type of people into my circle? What voids do they fill for me? When I am in a decision-making moment, why do I experience overwhelming anxiety or fear?
It is as if you find yourself going back and forth in your mind with the ‘what if’s.’ What if this happens? What if that happens? What if it does not work out? What if I fail? What if I am rejected? You go through all of that analysis paralysis
only to learn after the decision is made, it was not as bad as you
