About this ebook

This collection of Adam Smiths poetry embodies the anguish, desperation and search for hope that so many young people experience today. Having suffered through the divorce of his parents and moving from town to town, his writings represent the depression and inner turmoil experienced as a child and a young man, and the search for acceptance and love.

Writing poetry is Adams way of healing his heart and mind and through this effort he hopes to help others understand that they are not alone.

A History in Anxiety - Adam C Smith

    Nameless

    Refuse yourself.

    Train for peace.

    Give up everything

    And fear will decrease.

All we are is what we have thought.

    Not from the past,

    Not what we’re taught.

One must count nothing as his own,

    Even in abundance

    One must atone.

    Do not dwell in then.

Do not dream of what’s next.

    Now is Zen.

    The Change I Needed

As you step into my life

    I can’t help but wonder…

How far will you take me, love?

And as we ascend into the vast unknown,

While we walk towards the end of life,

I open my eyes and take your hand,

While the rest just pass us by.

    You silence my questions

    With a gentle touch.

And while I rest in eternity for a bit,

    You never asked for much.

No you never asked for much.

    Not much we can do,

    But stay right here.

I know that there is only two,

And that means me and you.

Lay your head down in your nook

    While I fight our disease.

    The thief that only took.

This time I’ll fight him with the greatest of ease.

    Tomorrow’s Gain?

    Tomorrow is a lifetime away.

    Forever and always.

    The present is fleeting!

    And yesterday’s dreams have faded,

    Just like tomorrows.

    As I swim in emotion

And wash my hands with envy,

    I’ll open my eyes

    And see plastic feelings

    Wearing lies over their lips.

    Children blindfolded,

    Searching aimlessly

For a magic exit covered in hate.

Smiling, because they believe the lies they are told.

    Flying over the masses and

    Painting them red,

While he screams with a voice of smoke.

The children cry while drowning in their tears,

As they remember the sins they were forced to commit.

    As the seconds dim,

    With each page turning,

    They fear the morning frost.

They are told they will not be remembered.

They are told they’ll be easily forgotten.

    Pisces

I wish I knew what to serve.

    Aimless and pointless,

    Is this what we deserve?

I know there’s something pulling us higher,

    Something much larger,

    Something to
