Her eyes dusted the parking lot while her mind drifted off into nothingness, her usual progression of tuning out when under pressure. It was getting late, but she did not want to be the first to arrive. After several deep breathes, which miraculously froze her nerves, she regained focus, taking notice of her fingers tapping the steering wheel. Ugh…’I wish I’d stop with the nervous jitters’. Without allowing further thought, which would lead to more hesitation, she pulled the key out of the ignition and hopped out of the car.

She looked ahead at the building, impressed with its size and that it was new, which was a great relief given the crumby neighborhood her phone GPS took her through to get there. The giant letters attached to the structure read Xtreme Climb and showed a climber ascending a steep cliff, a male climber, which made her scoff.

She hit the button on her phone; it was ten minutes past three, the meeting time, but then she wouldn’t really know if Kyle were there already or not. She casually walked through the front door and was greeted by an employee.

Hello, welcome to Xtreme Climb, said the hairy ginger behind the counter.

She forced a smile, which she was able to hold for maybe a second. Despite all her deep breaths and positive self-talk, which she always thought was stupid yet still continued to do, she was trembling on the inside, barely able to hold herself together.

‘Stop it Regina, you can do this,’ she thought, but soon after the positive thoughts at least two or more negative ones followed. ‘What if he’s not like
