FOREWORD
Welcome to Newsletters That Rock!
This book will cover the subject of creating great newsletters for your readers. When I originally turned my attention to the subject of communicating with readers and started doing research, I realized that I really wanted to take a holistic view of this subject. I wanted to write about all aspects. At the same time, I was persuaded by fellow authors that not everyone wants to know all aspects of a subject. Sometimes one aspect is sufficient - and frankly all that can be handled without overwhelm setting in! Because of this, what is now available as a box set, is also broken out into 3 books - one for each aspect of communicating with reader. You are reading one part of the box set - The Complete Mailing List Toolkit.
More information is available at the end of this book regarding the other parts of the box set.
Onward….
INTRODUCTION
"Recent articles estimate the average consumer sends and receives 88 emails a day. Now that’s a lot of emails to sift through. So how do you make your newsletter stand out from the crowd? What will make your recipients stop in their tracks when they see your latest newsletter sitting in their inbox?" Adestra staff writer
"Commonly thought of as one of the best solutions to generate more sales leads, nurture relationships with existing customers, cross sell and amplify content, email newsletters can be a great source of joy…or stress. They are a great asset when they generate results and deliver satisfying open and click through rates but they can be a real disappointment when they go unopened, or even worse - when the receiver unsubscribes altogether." In Touch CRM
Welcome to the last book of this box set. In this book we’re going to talk about what makes a good newsletter. Many people like to say that the creation of a great email is a science not an art. I disagree with that statement. Every audience is different in terms of geographical makeup, composition of ages and genders, genre of books read and that barely touches the surface of potential differences. For an expert to say that there is a one-size-fits-all for newsletters I feel is disingenuous.
Do I feel that there are some commonalities - some best practices? Yes. There is also some science that we can fall back on that will help you understand some of the best practices.
First of all in this book, we’re going to talk about the science of reading electronic sources. We’re going to follow that with some basic understanding of newsletter layout. We’re going to follow this with a chapter on creating the optimal subject
