About this ebook

MAID OF THE MANOR - The Mysterious Case of Cassandra Evans
Walking through the large hallways of the manor house, Maid Cassandra Evans found herself humming a soft tune as she walked with the trolley in front of her. She was easily in her middle ages, and had worked in the Manor House for almost 20 years, and was perhaps the senior most maid in the entire of the Manor, but she didn’t care for all that. She had a job to do and a Master to take care of, her own master that had saved her from what should have been instant death and misery.
One day, when Ms. Cassandra was nowhere to be found, she was searched around the whole manor.
Finally, in the main lounge of the Manor house, from the ceiling, there were 2 ropes hanging down, both of them tied up into the Chandeliers.
Both of those ropes had 2 bodies tied onto it, via the necks, or at least one of them. One was the body of a steward and a driver, in his black and white dress but with enough blood on him for it to splatter on the ground, and the other was the pale, broken figure of Cassandra Evans, naked as the day she was born with a lot of cuts and other types of marks against her skin, her eyes black, and her lips split. From what they could see, her body was tied via her legs, and she was alive, shuddering and shivering, her breath coming in gasps and her eyes already having run out of tears. Her nose was bleeding and so was her stomach.
The murder mystery grows with every passing minute. The police have a hard time pinpointing on the killer.

Will the accused be caught in time, remains to be seen.

    CHAPTER 1

Walking through the large hallways of the manor house, Maid Cassandra Evans found herself humming a soft tune as she walked with the trolley in front of her. She was easily in her middle ages, and had worked in the Manor House for almost 20 years, and was perhaps the senior most maid in the entire of the Manor, but she didn’t care for all that. She had a job to do and a Master to take care of, her own master that had saved her from what should have been instant death and misery.

Walking inside of the various rooms of the manor house, her job was to go in and make sure all the rooms were clean. There were 10 other maids in the manor, all of them her friends and people that she knew, and had trained, and they had their own jobs but this floor was special, for it contained the room of the Master, the same one she had served for such a long time. She turned and knocked the door where the man was, and entered in when he said a ‘come in.’

Good Morning, Cassandra. The master of the house greeted his most trusted maid. Cassandra bowed.

Good Morning Master Penton. Cassandra bowed, her golden blonde hair tied in a neat bun with her black and white maid outfit fastened professionally. Are you interested in some tea? Chef Guilton has made some scones and your favourite chicken and mayonnaise sandwiches.

No, Cassandra, just give me the tea and 2 pieces of Scones. The Master was an elderly man of at least 60 years old. He was wearing a black coloured suit and was sitting against the balcony, with his usual looks and bow-tie. And grab a seat yourself, we have some things to talk about.

I am sorry Master, but I am very busy to talk right now. With the function tomorrow I still have to oversee the cleaning of the other rooms. Cassandra said, bowing. She picked up the kettle and poured the tea into a nice ceramic cup. But if can help if it is something very important.

Oh dear, the rooms aren’t ready yet? The Master looked troubled. Weren’t you already finishing with them yesterday? I told you about the function 3 weeks ago.

They are done, Master, I just need to make sure they are perfectly clean and prepared for our guests. Cassandra said. I also need to look over the back lawn to see if the preparations are going properly or not, and then set up a good nice menu with the Head Chefs.

I see, good work, Cassandra. I knew I could trust you in all this. I would like it if there is an Indian dish in the menu, a sweet, preferably. The Rich Noble said, taking a sip of his tea. Please inform Mr. José that I wish to see him.

Cassandra nodded and bowed before leaving with the trolley. She would give the trolley to one of the other girls, and then oversee the cleaning process. This was her daily schedule. Waking up in the morning, preparing the other maids in the manor so they would be ready for the day and then visiting her Master to give him his tea.

Then followed by helping in the taking care of the house and settling the beds if there were any guests, setting the menu’s and maintaining his personal library and artefacts room before returning to Penton to give him  his evening tea and snacks. Usually she would be ‘ordered’ to eat those snacks with him as well, but she wouldn’t just do as he had said.

And that had been her very schedule towards her job for the past 10 years. That’s right, 10 full years. She hadn’t ever missed a single day, even when she was hurt, in pain or sick she
