1.The Phone Call
24th July 2015
It’s almost 7 pm and is raining heavily since 2 hours, with no signs of slowing down. I am staring outside my office window, on the seventh floor of this Police Station building, bored of having nothing to do.
In mind I was thinking, "I have been in this profession for like 8 years, when I started at 24 years of age. Am of average height of 5 ft 6 inches, fair looking and low sense of humour, but have good common sense. Rains always make me feel sad.
Others seem to pass their time surfing net or playing games or simply just sleeping."
Suddenly in the middle of this, the desk phone rang.
Hello, this is Police Officer Dave Willis.
I said.
The person on the other side of the phone, who was sounding terrified and gasping for air, informed me of a suitcase being found by one of his employee, in his dump yard. The suitcase contained a dead body of a child.
I said, Tell me your location please.
It’s City Metal Dump Yard, near Jacky’s Mill, Expressway road, on the outskirts of Bellville City (Georgia). It’s easily visible from 300 meters, due to big heap of metal scrap, so you won’t have any trouble finding it. I request you to please hurry up. We are really scared out here.
the caller said.
We are on our way. Don’t panic.
I said.
I hung up and straight away started walking towards the elevator, with my coat hanging in right hand. As I reached the ground floor, I made a call to my partner, Max, to join me at the earliest. Max is a young guy, of 29 years age, tall heighted and short haired. He has a beard and is a social networking geek.
He came by my car soon and we took off to the specified location.
The roads were almost empty, given the heavy rainfall, but we still had to go slow, for it was very dark to see anything clearly.
The rain finally stopped within twenty to thirty minutes after we left from our office.
I then hit the gas pedal to catch up on time.
As my car watch showed ‘7.55pm’, we reached the dump yard.
The owner was already waiting at the gate and desperately keeping eye on every incoming vehicle, as to when we would arrive.
The moment we neared the main gate of the dump-yard, he came running towards us. Guiding us, he took us to the place where the suitcase was.
It was a dark black, leather bodied bag. It was simple looking, but big enough for a body a person to fit in.
The suitcase was already open, since the employee who had opened it, ran away from the suitcase at the site of the dead body.
We could see the body the moment we were within five meters range of the bag, in that dump area. But luckily since this place had tower like dump (of metal), it somehow had provided a cover to the suitcase, preventing water from falling on or getting
