    CHAPTER 1

    THE FEAR COMES TRUE

    21st February, 2016

I am Police Officer- Dave Willis. As of now, I am sitting on a chair, with my hands and legs frozen with fear.

I could not move a single inch, as if my limbs had been tightly wrapped up with rope on the chair.

Perspiring, even though the air-conditioner was set at the coolest temperature.

‘Why??’ you ask. Well it happened so that I was suppose to get dinner reservations for me and my wife for a restaurant, to celebrate my wife’s being chosen ‘Head’ of her Lady friends group for a period of six months. This happened two days back. I somehow forgot to complete this task allotted to me by wife.

So when the day came, i.e., tonight, I suddenly felt that the whole floor, on which I was standing, had disappeared. And that I was hanging in air.

We reached the restaurant, of which I was to make reservations, and there my wife discovered my mistake. We were asked to wait for our turn as all the tables were fully occupied. As I sat there in that waiting area, with every passing second my heart beat became faster and louder. Just praying in my mind, ‘That we be provided with a table at the earliest possible.’

So now you understand the situation. It was highly ‘flammable’ one.

My wife was looking at me as if she was going to kill me there itself. I tried to persuade her to cool down, while I held her hand close to my heart. She was stubborn on her side, of not letting go of her anger for me.

But then something magical happened, that completely made her forgive me and all mistakes. A restaurant employee came in and informed us that they had a ‘table for two’ available now. That was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard in the past fifteen minutes of my life. As if a cool-pure-waterfall was unleashed on me. This was my chance to make things right.

I took my wife’s hand and escorted her, like she was the most precious thing for me in the whole world, till the table. Then, as the time passed on, the heat of the anger went on a decrease and the love connection between us went on an increase.

We had a great time and finally we took off to home with an ice–cream cone in our hands. It’s good to get spoiled sometimes. The night ended with a smile on each of our face.

    CHAPTER 2

    THE COUPLE

    22nd February, 2016

The next day was the usual business. I got up and took off for work around 8.30 am.

I work at the head-quarter building of the Sydney Police Department, located in Sydney, where I have been deputed since more than seven years.

Being here for so many years, I have learnt one thing - that life is full of challenges, as I have seen many.

With these philosophical thoughts cruising around in my mind, I had a case waiting at my cabin door, in the form of Jack, my assistant cum friend, in crime solving. He is lean and strong, but no girlfriend yet. At times I feel sorry for him.

Anyways, I neared him, his eyes were eager to inform me of some crime that might have taken place in the city. This I could read in his eyes.

I entered my cabin and so did he, after he asked, May I come in Sir?
