PREFACE
Now, I am in no way a counselor, therapist, or philosopher (disclaimer), but what I am is a realist
—keep this statement in mind: A Realist Point Of View.
That statement alone can change the quality of relationships and ultimately open doors to levels in your life that are often thought just for the movies.
When it comes to a relationship, understand there are many different levels that we must build on, solidify, then advance, but in order to advance to any level your foundation is key, so that when you lose a level you can land on solid ground.
After seeing that many of us don’t take the time nor have the time to build solid ground from scratch with no template, I decided to take what I’ve experienced, observed, and analyzed, scale it down to the important things, and bring it to you. And to ease your mind even more, I decided to place it all in a checklist, a checklist for each level so you can see that you have solidified that level and are capable of taking the steps to that next level.
Mainly I am going to give you the tools in order to advance your relationship’s future sooner and smoother. Throughout this piece I will give personal accounts I’ve witnessed and experienced while also giving you facts from studies performed dealing with these same topics.
As we begin I ask that you take care to pay attention to the details because in relationships they make all the difference, and before you know it, you’ll be at the end of the book, and you’ll have to start again from Chapter 1, but I do encourage you to read the book multiple times and use it as a study guide and a reference to help you to regroup when needed. But enough of the prequel, let us begin our fresh, new relationship from a REALIST POINT OF VIEW.
Chapter 1
KNOW YOURSELF
Knowing yourself. First off, when it comes to knowing yourself, we as a whole tend to think we generally already know ourselves and really don’t put too much thought into it, yet we take the time to meticulously map out what we want. Know that there is no problem with knowing what you want, but in order to get what you want—like most things in life—you have to work to get it. You must maintain the things you’re already good at and improve the things you are not inherently good at. As an athlete has to try out for a team so that the coach can see what he/she is actually
