Chapter 1 The Model Family

Titania Modeling Society Magazine: The Weatherspoon family is one of the first families to live on Titania, a moon of Uranus. All are models. Mr. and Mrs. Weatherspoon still look great for their ages. They have two children, Tara and Sara. Both are models as well. James first met Jamie when they were modeling as teenagers. They were both assigned to do a photoshoot together. And the rest, as they say, is history.

We have some of those shots and just look at them. The chemistry was there from the start. They said it didn’t take them long to start dating. Of course everyone wondered why they both had become so pale over time. Yet, they were even more gorgeous than they were when they had started modeling. All they’ve ever said on that subject was that they have a hard time with sunlight. They burned too easily from too much sun.

It is certainly true some people are too sensitive to the sun. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why they moved out to Titania when the colony first started. Many people don’t realize that it was set up to be the premier modeling and fashion industry place in the colonies. There were some in the fashion industry who didn’t think Earth should have the monopoly.

As the Weatherspoons were one of the first families to move out here, they were also the first models. Both of their daughters were born right here on this moon. They are among the first to be born and raised here. Tara has become quite the supermodel. She was recently interviewed. Sara is a runway model. Titania is famous for its runway shows which are broadcast throughout the solar system.

Mr. and Mrs. Weatherspoon are still modeling. In fact they have a photoshoot coming up soon. The staff of Titania Modeling Society Magazine are looking forward to it. We plan to get some outtake pictures to share with everyone. This couple has been together for quite a long time. This photoshoot will take place on the anniversary of the day they met.

All of Titania is in a flutter just waiting for this photoshoot to happen. Everyone is waiting for Tara’s interview to be released. Sadly, we couldn’t get an interview from Sara. Not much is known about Sara other than she is divorced with a set of twins. Rumor has it that she and her best friend Kara are dating. No confirmation on the Sara’s dating life from either Sara or Kara.

Sara sighed when she finished reading the magazine. Kara looked across the table at her.

That bad, huh?

Yeah, people think you and I are dating.

Kara shrugged. How are your kids?

Okay, I guess. They’re in school right now.

Did they get a mention in the article?

Yeah, briefly. The writers mentioned I’m divorced with a set of twins.

Kara nodded. Divorce sucks.

Yeah, and their dad isn’t around.

He claims he’s too busy as a professional athletic to see his own children. I’m glad he’s out of the picture.

Yeah? Perhaps you’re right. But I get lonely sometimes.

So do I.

Really?

Well, it’s not entirely loneliness. I think it’s just hormones. If we didn’t have the urge, no one would go out and do it.

And there wouldn’t be anymore children. Sara sighed. I’m glad you get that.

Of course I get it. But I haven’t met anyone who’s worth my time and energy.

Sara smiled. We’re still young.

But no longer naive.

Good. Being naive was no fun.

Well, I just read that a young man named Marco who is upset that the cat shelter he was working for kills cats.

Oh?

Yeah, he protested and now he’s out of a job. I can’t say I blame him.

A cat came and rubbed his head against Kara’s legs.

I know Mr. Flutterbutter. The local cat place doesn’t kill cats.

Sara smiled.

Do you what your life expectancy is?

No.

No? Wow. I hear it can be quite long.

Really?

Yeah. Longer than what I get to expect.

Are you sure about that?

Quite sure.

I thought your family tended to be long lived.

Oh, yeah we are. Don’t worry, I’ll probably be around for quite a while longer, but don’t count on me being alive when you’re 150 years old.

Sara sighed. That’s depressing. I’ll miss you.

I know, but it can’t be helped.

Because I’m a vampire and you’re human.

Right.

Oh, goodness, my children…

Yeah, so are your children. But only half vampire. Their father is human.

And people thought we couldn’t have children.

Your parents had your older sister and you, and that was after they had become vampires.

Yeah, I’m sure it was a shock at first. That’s probably why we were raised by nannies. They still had to be models throughout everything.

Kara smiled. Well, next is an interview with your sister.

I’m not looking forward to it.

No?

She doesn’t like me. She thinks my kids and I should be out on our own. Not at our parents’ house.

Well, she lives there too. What is she thinking?

She hates me and children.

Kara blinked. As an only child, I have no idea what I’m missing out on.

You’re the lucky one.

I doubt that. You have admirers. I don’t.

Why not?

I’m not as beautiful as you are. You know that.

Sara smiled. It’s not easy being beautiful. Sometimes it just plain sucks.

I bet it does.

Oh, I’ll have to get the little munchkins soon.

Kara smiled. I wish I had kids.

You want mine? I’ll let you have them for free.

Kara laughed. I don’t feel deprived. In fact, I’m happy to share yours with you. She paused. You’re tired today. Why is that?

I’m not sleeping.

I thought vampires didn’t need that much sleep.

Well, we don’t, but I’m not getting any right now.

What’s wrong?

One of the fashion designers is going to bring his son on board.

Okay.

I don’t want to meet him.

Why not?

He’s too handsome.

Uh, oh. Handsome like your ex-husband?

Well, even more so.

You already sound like you’re in trouble.

I know. Sara covered her face with her hands. But I don’t think I can avoid it. I’ve been trying to avoid him for quite some time now. But his father keeps bringing him up and shows me pictures.

He’s a proud father. Of course he’s showing you pictures and telling you about him.

Sara uncovered her face and sighed. But he’s the right age for me.

Anything else?

He’s a vampire. I wouldn’t have to be too gentle with him.

Kara laughed. Okay, I think you’re in serious trouble this time. What are you going to do?

I don’t know. It’s not like I’ll be able to avoid him. If he gets his own show, I’ll have to work with him.

And me too.

Yes, you too. But you’re great to work with. You know how to do my makeup and hair correctly.

Yeah, I get your coloring and I know how to work with that palette without making you look bad. It’s not easy with some of the makeup they try to give me. But I make do.

Sara smiled. You’re great at what you do. Don’t sell yourself short.

I’m not. Don’t worry.

Have you seen the boy’s pictures?

Yeah, his father showed me and told me all about him. But until I meet him, I don’t have much of an opinion.

Right. I’ll need your opinion.

Chapter 2 Supermodel Sister

Titania Modeling Society Magazine: We have this exclusive interview with Tara Weatherspoon. Daughter of James and Jamie Weatherspoon, a pair of famous models who met during a photoshoot and have been together ever since. Let’s get started.

TMSM: Why did you become a model?

TW: I suppose it was my parents. They were always so photogenic even as children. I showed signs of the same photogenic qualities when I was a child. By the time I was a teenager, I knew I just wanted to be a model.

TMSM: And you’ve been doing it ever since with great success.
